They will, they won't, and now they supposedly will again. Analysts and suppliers make fun of us. Once they claim 100% when iPads are coming, then they deny it to confirm it again. So now we have news that new iPads are indeed coming this week. But does anyone even care?

It's true that Apple releases new Macs and iPads in October. According to the first reports, it was supposed to happen this year as well, but then the news came again that refutes it. Now we have two camps here. One claims that the new iPads will arrive this week, but Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who pays for the really well-informed one, counters that. At the same time, taking into account the previous information, he pours ashes on his head.

In his regularly published Power On newsletter, he literally states: "…while I reported in July that Apple was planning to release iPads this year, the latest indications are that it won't happen this month." He adds that both the iPad Pro, Air and mini are in development to be equipped with new chips in particular, but he does not believe that this portfolio update will come now. Last month, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also reported that "new iPad models are unlikely before the end of the year." If there really aren't any new iPads, 2023 will be the first year in the iPad's 13-year history that the company won't introduce a new model in this segment.

New iPads yes or no?

Magazines Supercharged a 9to5Mac this weekend independently reported that Apple plans to launch updated iPad Air, iPad mini, and entry-level iPad models this week, citing their own sources. Both media reports that the iPad Air will get an M2 chip and the iPad mini, on the other hand, an A16 Bionic chip.

If this actually happens, it will logically only be in the form of press releases. After all, more news is not expected from these models either, perhaps with the exception of colors and perhaps a few software options. But isn't that a bit much? Definitely yes. But does it bother anyone? Probably not. Why? Because iPads and tablets are generally of little interest to users.

It's a bare fact and you can see it not only in the market, where sales of Apple's iPads keep falling, but also in the reactions of customers/fans/users. Although there is a lot of information about them, the comments and reactions to them are simply not enough compared to other news from the technology world. Those who wanted an iPad already have it, but many don't need it at all, because an iPhone is enough for them to do the same thing or they do the "bigger" work on a Mac. And it's logical, and to some extent I blame Apple, which still doesn't want to give iPads the capabilities that a full-fledged desktop system has.

Apple Pencil 3rd generation

Even if the new iPads leave you cold, you might appreciate what might come with them (or instead of them). We are talking about the new generation of Apple Pencil. Japanese blog Mac Otakara as he believes it is more likely that the third generation Apple Pencil will be announced instead of the new iPads. Last month, leaker Majin Bu reported that the Apple Pencil 3 would feature interchangeable magnetic tips for drawing, technical drawing, and digital painting. Maybe we will see something new from Apple before the end of the year.

The second generation of Apple Pencil was announced back on October 30, 2018. It comes with one non-magnetic nib, and you can purchase replacement nibs separately. Apple also continues to sell the first-generation Apple Pencil with a Lightning connector, for the base 10th-generation iPad and some even older iPads. However, there are rumors that Apple might update it with a USB-C connector.
