Bloomberg's Mark Gurman released an interesting report, according to which Apple has been exploring the possibilities of a larger iPad since 2021 and almost unveiled it to the public this year. The concept of a larger iPad was specifically supposed to have a 14″ display and it was supposed to be the largest iPad from Apple. In the end, however, as you well know, no such iPad was presented by Apple, mainly due to the transition to OLED displays, which are significantly more expensive than previously used technologies, and the cost of producing a 14" display with OLED would be too high for Apple to use this tablet sell at an affordable price.

Apple will eventually bring a new iPad Pro next year, according to Gurman and other sources, where it will most likely be unveiled either at a special spring keynote or at WWDC. This iPad will then offer a 13″ OLED display. However, this will not be a big change compared to the currently offered iPad Pro with a 12,9″ display. Apple will therefore still sell the largest iPad with a screen smaller than that of the smallest MacBook, which has a 13,3″ display.

However, according to other sources, Apple is still flirting with the idea of a significantly larger iPad, but instead of a 14″ variant, it is even toying with the idea of a 16″ variant, as the device should be primarily intended for professional use. It should be a tablet intended for architects, graphic designers, photographers and other people who can use the area of its large display. However, Apple now has to wait primarily until the cost of producing OLED displays decreases and only then will it be able to start offering the iPad. Of course, the introduction of a new product is preceded by very thorough analyses, during which Apple, as well as other manufacturers, determine what product, at what price and to which users they can offer in order for the given product to be successful.
