Fall primarily belongs to iPhones and Apple Watch, from time to time Apple will also introduce Mac computers or iPads. Will this happen with Apple tablets this year? As a probable date, October would be ideal for this, so that the company can still make it to the Christmas season without complications with their distribution. But probably nothing to look forward to.

Going back a long way, Apple has held Fall Keynotes in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2021, and it's been a year since the company released new tablets. Last October, we saw iPad Pro with M2 chips and also the 10th generation of the basic iPad, but not in the form of an event, but only through press releases. According to the latest reports, Apple is not planning an autumn event this year either. It's simply because he doesn't have enough new products that have so many new features that he needs to talk about them in Keynote. Of course, this does not mean that we will not see new products. Even in January of this year, Apple released its MacBook Pro or the 2nd generation HomePod only with a printer.

Nobody wants tablets

The worldwide demand for tablets is not stagnant, but it is downright free-falling. In its August earnings report, Apple warned that iPad sales were expected to fall by double digits, indicating that it does not expect to have products that entice customers to buy during the final quarter of the year. Instead, of course, they are betting on the new iPhone 15 and Apple Watch.

This is also in line with many rumors that indicated that the new ‌iPad‌ is not expected to be launched until 2024. Even Ming-Chi Kuo mentions that the next ‌iPad mini‌ will probably not enter mass production until the first quarter of 2024. Other information indicates , that ‌iPad Pro‌ models with OLED displays and M3 chips won't arrive until 2024 either.

Is Apple Vision Pro to blame?

Another thing to consider is when the Apple Vision Pro goes on sale. According to the company, its headset will go on sale in early 2024, which probably means it should arrive by the end of March. But the Vision Pro uses an ‌M2‌ chip, so if Apple's $3 headset were to launch with a chip that's worse than the one already powering ‌iPads‌, it might seem odd to the customer at best.

And then we have iPadOS 17, which is already available to the general public. It would certainly be more convenient for Apple to release it to the world only with the newly introduced novelties. They say that hope dies last, but if you're still hoping for an iPad this year, you'd better prepare for possible disappointment.

On the other hand, it is true that Apple last updated the ‌iPad Air‌ in March 2022 with the M1 chip. If the ‌iPad Air‌ were to be updated with the M2 chip one year after the ‌iPad Pro‌, that would mean a launch in October 2023. It's also worth noting that Apple has updated the entry-level ‌iPad‌ every year since 2017. Of course, this indicates that even the 11th generation iPad could logically come this year, otherwise Apple will break its already relatively long six-year tradition. Unfortunately, it is still true that this is only information based on the past, but it is not substantiated in any way by the leaks that usually predict the arrival of a new product. So just bad luck.
