Apple has two external displays in its portfolio. Is it a lot or a little? Many would certainly like a larger portfolio, which would also be better graded in price. But as it looks, we won't see anything new here right away.

It is a rather sad sight. Studio Display will cost you CZK 42, Pro Display XDR will cost you CZK 990. In both cases, this is the price at which the monitors start, so you can pay more. But for example, the basic Mac mini will cost you CZK 139. Are you really going to buy a monitor for it that costs two and a half as much as your computer? At the same time, it provides the main power and the display is just like a display, or not?

Apple monitors/displays are intended for professionals and exclusively for professionals who have a use for their qualities. A normal mortal will only buy them if they don't know what to do with money or are a true brand fan who just doesn't want another electronics. Information about Apple's new displays is leaking in waves. But the last time was in January of last year. We currently have no new information here, which means only one thing - no new additions to the portfolio.

We already hoped for a revival of the portfolio with the Pro Display XDR, which arrived in 2019. There were also hopes for the Studio Display, which was introduced together with the Mac Studio in 2022. However, nothing is happening at Apple in this segment. . Of course, these displays have their customers, but it cannot be a mass success. It seems more like a shot in the blank that gets you excited at the beginning, but that's about it. For Apple, its monitors have an advantage mainly in that it can present its desktops with them and does not have to show "no name" monitors or advertise those of other brands.

So, simply put, if you're waiting for a new Apple external monitor/display, it can be a really long wait that won't bring any resolution. WWD24 may just be the hope. So there is also an iMac, but even that is very limited by its display. It is only available in a single 24" variant, as if Apple was really afraid of products with large displays. The Studio Display still has a relatively small 27" and we have not yet seen the successor of the XDR display with its 32" diagonal in those 5 years.
