Last week, Apple introduced the Mac Studio, a completely new desktop computer. It should combine phenomenal performance with many ports and new options in a very compact design. At the same time, it plugs a fairly large hole in the company's desktop offering.

When we look at the company's entire portfolio, it is clear that Apple offers a wide range of options in different price ranges for individual product lines. Apart from the top-of-the-line iPhone 13 series, the range also includes iPhone 12, iPhone 11 and, of course, the new iPhone 3 generation. Considering the device specifications, their prices start at CZK 12 for the basic iPhone SE and end at CZK 490 for the 47TB iPhone 390 Pro Max.

It is no different with iPads. The basic 9th generation iPad starts at 9 CZK, the 990th generation iPad mini at 6 CZK, and the 14th generation iPad Air starts at 490 CZK. Next up are the professional iPad Pros, which start at CZK 5 for the Wi-Fi version of the 16” variant and end at a high CZK 490 for the 22” variant with 990TB of storage and mobile data. The variance here is also large, from models for ordinary users to those with the greatest demands.

There is also a lot to choose from with MacBooks, where the entry-level model is the MacBook Air for CZK 29, followed by the 990" MacBook Pro with the M13 chip and the 1" and 14" ones with the M16 Pro and M1 Max chips. The smaller variant starts at CZK 1, the larger one with the M58 Max chip at up to CZK 990, while in the case of your own configuration you can easily reach CZK 1. But then there are desktops, which until now had a less than ideally balanced offer.

Apple desktops

The basis here is the Mac mini, which you can buy with the M1 chip for CZK 21, making it the company's cheapest Mac. But you can still reach for a higher configuration or one with an Intel processor worth CZK 990. Then there's the 33" iMac, the only iMac you can now buy directly from the Apple Online Store. Its price starts at CZK 990, depending on the configuration of the RAM memory and the size of the storage, you can reach almost CZK 24. So if we don't count the new Mac Studio, there is still a big gap up to the Mac Pro, which starts at 37 CZK, and with its own configuration you can reach well over a million CZK (specifically, 990 CZK).

Since Apple did not show us a larger version of its iMac, Mac Studio filled the gap between the Mac mini, iMac and Mac Pro. Its price starts at CZK 56 and reaches up to CZK 990 in the case of the highest possible configuration with the M236 Ultra chip, the base of which costs CZK 990. If we also exclude the all-in-one iMac from the list, we can see how Studio has filled a really big hole not only with regard to price, but of course also performance.

A completely logical step

Now we are not talking about whether you will use the performance of the device, but its practicality. Although Apple presented us with its Studio Display, the advantage of Apple desktops, if we count the iMacs, is that you only get that computer for the stated price. For the rest, it's up to you whether you prefer Apple or third-party peripherals. If something goes wrong with your MacBook or iMac, you have to deal with it comprehensively, in this case you just replace the station and continue to use the rest, or of course the other way around, where you get a new display, keyboard, mouse, trackpad, etc. So the introduction of Mac Studio was logical and a reasonable step on the part of Apple, with which it wants to satisfy many of its customers and, in fact, penetrate into a price range in which it has not featured at all.
