Agency Bloomberg She recently came up with quite interesting information. According to her, Apple really thought about providing the Apple Watch on the Android platform as well. It is said that he even backed away from these plans just before completion. But did he do well?

We have known the very first Apple Watch since 2015. The way Apple conceived it showed the world how similar hardware can be used. It wasn't the first smart watch, but it was the first that could actually be used as a smart watch, thanks to the App Store. Since then, many manufacturers have tried to come up with their own solutions, but the Apple Watch sits firmly on its throne, even if it can only be used with iPhones.

The best of our own platform

While we obviously don't know at what stage the Fennel project was terminated, according to the report, it was "almost complete." It doesn't really matter what it would entail to bring Apple Watch compatibility with Android phones and what limitations there would be. Maybe it would be 1:1, maybe not, but Apple dropped this possibility due to "business considerations". It is said that this option would dilute the value of the Apple Watch, which is why the company kept it only for its platform.

Samsung is selling its Galaxy Watch smart watch, which has been running the Tizen operating system for three generations. It meant that with the appropriate application, these watches could also be used with iPhones. But even if they were smart, they weren't that smart because their store was definitely not up to the size of Google Play. The Galaxy Watch4 is considered the true and full-fledged competition for the Apple Watch. This watch has the Wear OS operating system, which Samsung developed together with Google and already includes Google Play. Since then, we've had the Galaxy Watch6 and the Google Pixel Watch 2 (and a few others).

Of course, it cannot be directly compared, but it shows that it is possible to break into another platform, but it does not guarantee success. You cannot use the Galaxy Watch from their 4th generation with iPhones in the same way as you cannot use the Apple Watch with Android phones. Both Samsung and Google understood that it would be better to only care about their customers and rather ignore the "foreign" platform, as Apple has done since the beginning of the Apple Watch.

The joke is that Apple didn't just release the Apple Watch on Android because it wanted Android customers to switch to it for iPhones and its smartwatches. Even if, for example, you pair his AirPods with Android, you have only stupid Bluetooth headphones without all the added functions. Who knows what it would look like now, but it is certain that Apple did well in the end when others took over its strategy.
