What was the most anticipated new Apple Watch Ultra 2nd generation? We did get a new chip and a better display, but we didn't get the main thing that most customers wanted. We are talking about black titanium. Will we see it in the next generation? Maybe yes, but maybe not next year.

It's a really strange approach when you consider that Apple can color titanium, as evidenced by the four color variants of the iPhone 15 Pro. But we didn't get to see the Apple Watch. Last year, no one might have expected it and it wasn't necessary for us to have to choose from the color options right away, but this year Apple had an ideal opportunity for it, which it missed. Apple Watch Ultra is still only available in titanium and no others. For the iPhone 15 Pro, we have titanium natural, white, blue and black.

How will it be with the Apple Watch Ultra 3?

Of course, it's still too early to say if they really will or won't. ultimately, there didn't even need to be a 2nd generation Apple Watch Ultra, and Apple could happily continue to sell only their first generation. But he innovated, albeit minimally. However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the probability that we will see the Apple Watch Ultra 3 next September is decreasing.

The company hasn't officially started development of the 3rd generation yet, and if it doesn't do so by the end of November, it would mean that we won't really see a new Apple Watch Ultra until 2024. In addition, Kuo believes that the company needs more time to develop innovative features, including the production of a micro LED display. Relatedly, he also predicts that Ulter sales will drop by 20 to 30%.

Do we need a new generation of products every year?

According to available information, Apple has already tested the black version of titanium at Ulter, this version was even supposed to be ready for release, but the customer did not receive it in the end. For this reason, three possible scenarios are born here - Apple will want to revive the Ultras in the spring in the same way as it revives the iPhones with new colors, will skip the 3rd generation next year and will only offer the option of an alternative color variant in order to at least slightly support sales or 3 . generation will introduce. Its news will then be just a new chip and color.

What more should the 3rd generation Apple Watch Ultra be able to do? Of course, there will be a new S10 chip out of obligation, probably at least a partial improvement of the display, but beyond? Where to move such a product in terms of hardware? It's a general problem with modern technologies, which can in many cases go overboard. After all, the standard Apple Watch has been doing this for several years, we've also seen it with iPhones

In particular, Apple could forgive the release of the iPhone 14 and continue to sell only the iPhone 13, because the changes were really so few that labeling them as a new generation looked simply sloppy. But the customer sees a new label, a higher number, which naturally must mean something more. So, according to our humble estimate, the Apple Watch Ultra 3rd generation will indeed arrive next year, even if they should only get the chip and the color. After all, Apple will come up with new straps again, so the whole thing will look very different and simply new, so it will still appeal to customers.
