Today, Apple released updates for three of its operating systems – iOS 9, OS X El Capitan and watchOS 2. No update brings any major changes, but rather minor news and improvements. iOS got new emoji, Office 2016 should work better on Mac.

iOS 9.1 – new emoji and better Live Photos

In the basic description of the iOS 9.1 update for iPhones and iPads, we find only two things. Improved Live Photos that now intelligently respond to when you pick up and put down your iPhone, so if you take a picture and immediately put your phone down, the recording will automatically stop.

The second biggest change is the arrival of more than 150 new emoji with full support for Unicode 7.0 and 8.0 emoticons. Among the new emojis we can find, for example, a burrito, cheese, the middle finger, a bottle of champagne or a unicorn head.

iOS 9.1 is also ready for new products – iPad Pro and Apple TV. iOS 9.1 will be required to pair the fourth-generation Apple TV, which will go on sale at least in the United States next week, with an iOS device. At the same time, the latest operating system corrects a number of errors that appeared in previous versions.

You can download iOS 9.1 directly on your iPhones and iPads.

OS X 10.11.1 – Mail and Office 2016 improvements

The OS X El Capitan operating system released in September received the first update. Version 10.11.1 also features new emoji, but it's mainly about fixing a few major bugs.

Compatibility with applications from the Microsoft Office 2016 suite, which has not yet worked reliably under El Capitan, has been improved. The Mail application received several fixes.

You can download OS X 10.11.1 in the Mac App Store.

watchOS 2.0.1 - bug fixes

The first update also met the operating system for apple watches. In watchOS 2.0.1, Apple developers also focused mainly on bug fixes. The software update itself was improved, errors that could affect battery life or prevent location updates or using Live Photo as a watch face were fixed.

You can download WatchOS 2.0.1 through the Apple Watch apps on your iPhone. The watch must be charged to at least 50 percent, must be connected to the charger and must be within range of the iPhone. For installation, you need iOS 9.0.2 or 9.1 on your iPhone.

Apple has also prepared a minor update for iTunes. According to its description, version 12.3.1 only brings improvements to the overall stability and performance of the application. The developers also received the GM version of tvOS, which will appear in the new Apple TV next week.
