Those hoping for new iPads are simply out of luck. Apple introduced the Apple Pencil with USB-C, and if it was preparing new iPads, it would of course make sense to introduce them in the form of a press release as well, which did not happen. However, the novelty can really interest many. It combines the first and second generation and has a more affordable price tag.

Apple itself states in a press release that Apple has today expanded the range with a new, more affordable model that will give iPad users more options. The novelty, like the 2nd generation Apple Pencil, features a matte body with flat sides that magnetically attaches to the side of the iPad, but the difference is in charging. This is not done wirelessly, but via a USB-C cable. You can find the port after pulling out the Pencil cover and it is also used for pairing. However, a magnetic snap will put the Pencil to sleep, saving its battery.

Of course, compatibility is also important here. The new Apple Pencil, which is labeled Apple Pencil (USB-C) and sits between the 1st and 2nd generation, works with all iPad models with a USB-C port. In combination with iPad Pros with the M2 chip, it also reacts to holding the tip just above the display, which makes it possible to achieve even more accurate results when drawing or illustrating.

The new Apple Pencil (USB-C) will be available at the beginning of November at a price of CZK 2, for education it will be at a price of CZK 290. The 1st generation Pencil remains priced at 990 CZK and the 1nd generation at 2 CZK. Apple also keeps the USB-C adapter for the 990st generation Pencil in its offer for CZK 2. The differences in the functionality of the individual models can be found in the image below.

Even though it might look like the new design is a copy of the 2nd generation with an added USB-C port, this is not the case. Its length is 155 mm, while the length of the 2nd generation is 166 mm. It also has a diameter of 8,9 mm, but the Apple Pencil (USB-C) has a diameter of 7,5 mm. Paradoxically, this does not affect the weight, when the novelty is only 0,2 g lighter (specifically, it is 20,5 g).
