Many activities can be connected with the iPhone today. Thanks to the GolfSense measuring device, you can also take your iPhone to the golf course, attach a special tracker to your glove and measure how perfect your swing is and what you should work on...

I am a first-year bachelor's student at FTVS UK in Prague, and I first encountered golf 8 years ago. I have been actively involved in it for 7 years and have been gradually moving to training for the last 2 years, which is why I was also interested in testing GolfSense. I have a 3rd coaching license and I trained with a Canadian coach for 4 years, from whom I tried to learn everything I could to use in my training and then pass this knowledge on.

Equipment

When I first learned about the GolfSense from Zepp, I was concerned about the size and weight of the device. If it were too big or heavy, it could unzip the glove and thus affect the swing, or bother the player by feeling his weight on the glove, or just visually. But after attaching the glove, I found that there was nothing to worry about. I did not feel the GolfSense on my hand at all and the device did not hinder my swing in any way.

Application

In order to capture your swing, in addition to the GolfSense clipped to your glove, you must also have the appropriate app running GolfSense for iPhoneThe app itself works great, with a quick response after taking a swing. With Bluetooth turned on, it will automatically connect to the device on your glove when you turn it on, and you can be swiping in no time. I recommend doing the first settings at home before the start of training, the settings will take you a few minutes.

When you start for the first time, you log in via e-mail and fill in personal information (age, gender, height, stick grip - right/left). In the settings you choose the club grip that most closely resembles yours (there are 100 different options), then your HCP and what units you want your swing to be measured in (imperial/metric). Function Phone in Pocket it can also measure the rotation of your hips in the swing and swing.

Next, you set which clubs you have. Here I was a bit disappointed by the lack of stick models older than three years, but almost all brands have newer models of your sticks, so it's not a big mistake.

Now the quickest option is to go back from the settings to the home screen and take a few swings, giving the best one a star. Then open in the settings My Swing Goals to set your goals. You can choose from three preset models – Senior, Amateur, Professional. Selecting one of them fills in all the following items: Tempo, Backswing position, Club & Hand Plane and in all clubs Clubhead Speed. When setting one model, you can swing again.

there are still options Starred Custom. The first mentioned option will set you targets automatically according to the swing you have given a star. In the section Custom you can adjust all parameters according to your own preferences.

My experience

GolfSense pleasantly surprised me with its many swing measurement and tracking options. I expected it to track "only" the hands and calculate clubhead speed from that. But the device completely exceeded my expectations. Authentically depicts the path of the club head, hand or even the "shaft". I especially like the function of plotting the path of the shaft, as the activity of the wrist can be clearly seen here, and it helped me personally a lot in guiding my hands in the swing.

There are really many ways to measure your swing - for example comparing your swing to a PGA coach or to your other swing (today's or any other). Another feature is the calendar/history My History and personal statistics My Statistics. In your history, you can find every swing you've measured with the device, replay it and compare it again to another, or look at the statistics of that single swing. In the statistics, you have the number of measured swings, training sessions and the average points from them, the most used club, the best rated club, the average number of swings per month and the number of days since the last practice with Golfsense, but mainly the percentage change in the swing rating.

For the correct functionality of the application during swiping, you can lock the screen so that you do not accidentally press some buttons in your pocket. If you don't know how to use GolfSense, in the menu on the left Help you have three links to video tutorials, user manual and customer support. There are also instructions on how to connect GolfSense to the iPhone and how to use the entire device, these two manuals do not require an internet connection.

I recommend Golfsense to any coach who wants some feedback to validate their training methods. But also for more advanced players who know how to improve their swing and set their swing goals accordingly. In my opinion, this is a very good and attractive product, thanks to which it is possible to train much better without a trainer, but it will also make it easier for many trainers to explain their methods to students. It also finds its place in children's training (10-13 years) in a competition format, thanks to swing scoring.

The price of the GolfSense sensor is 3 crowns incl. VAT.

We thank Qstore for lending the product.
