It is well known that Apple chooses exclusive locations and buildings for its stores. After all, it is also proved by newly opened Apple Store in Milan, which essentially became the main dominant feature of Piazza Liberty. Something completely different, even more special, is now being planned in Los Angeles, USA. The new store is to be built in the interior of the Tower Theatre, a now dilapidated neo-baroque building that opened in 1927.

Newly published proposal

As early as 2015, there were speculations that the apple company intended to use the building for its store. However, only now has Apple itself confirmed this intention and published the design of the interior of the new Apple Store.

When completed, Apple says it will be one of the most prominent Apple Stores in the world. The entire space will be modified for the needs of the store and, in addition to the store, it should serve as a cultural place where, for example, Today at Apple sessions or events for up to hundreds of visitors would take place.

Emphasis on detail

Of course, Apple is aware of how architecturally sensitive this place is, and therefore plans to rebuild the building with attention to detail, and even restore the original elements that have disappeared. The California-based firm will use original building plans and photographs to restore murals, decorative elements and a large stained-glass window above the entrance.

The neo-baroque building with French, Spanish and Italian elements opened in 1927. It was the first movie theater in Los Angeles to show sound films. Today, the place is falling into disrepair and is used mainly for filming movies. The spaces thus appeared in the films Transformers, Mulholland Drive or Fight Club, for example.

Another exceptional Apple Story

According to Apple Store Design Chief BJ Siegel, many people think of Apple's stores as "big glass boxes," which of course is true in many cases. However, there are several shops located in similarly prominent buildings such as the Tower Theatre. One cannot miss the monumental Apple Store on Kurfürstendamm in Berlin, the Opera Store in Paris or the planned store in the Carnegie Library building in Washington, DC.
