It's true that fitness bands are being crowded out by smartwatches. Not only are they becoming more affordable, but they're also often more convenient, especially because of their larger displays. However, as it looks, we already have the Xiaomi Band 8 at the door, which will try to score points with one feature that it borrows from the Apple Watch.

Apple will probably never release a fitness tracker. His Apple Watch is so complex that he probably doesn't want to let go of the established standard, because such a product would naturally have to be limited and thus also cheaper. But why sell a cheaper device on which he will have lower sales and margins, when his Apple Watch is selling like a treadmill. Plus, it has the Apple Watch SE here.

After all, even Samsung has finished with fitness bracelets, which relies only on the Galaxy Watch with the Google Wear OS operating system, and you won't find their portfolio expanded in any way at Garmin either, because its offer has practically only one model. So, if you want an ideal solution, a number of smart bracelets from the Chinese company Xioami are offered - of course only with the manufacturer's application (also available on iOS), i.e. without the community services of Apple, Samsung and Garmin (here specifically in its popular Connect application).

Straps as another possibility of earning and personalization

The Xiaomi Band 8 is now undergoing numerous certifications, from which relevant information is leaking, including the form. It looks like Xiaomi will ditch the integrated wristband in which the tracker capsule is inserted for its latest generation, but will have a proprietary strap attachment system - yes, just like Apple has with its Apple Watch or Google with its Pixel Watch .

It simply means that the Chinese manufacturer will provide a rich range of replaceable bracelets that you will be able to easily change just as we already know from smart watch solutions. Of course, he is also betting on the fact that he will get a lot of money thanks to this. In this respect, only Samsung is ahead, which actually still offers a standard attachment of straps, where you can buy any strap you want for its Galaxy Watch, as long as it is of the appropriate width. Even if Samsung loses here, it is the most convenient possible solution for the customer.

You can also get extensions on the Apple Watch that replace the regular straps that hold the strap on the watch. Thanks to this, you can also enjoy a range of classic straps on them, which are also intended for classic watches. This could be available for Band 8 as well, which would make it significantly more practical, more mature and less dependent on the manufacturer's solution.

The Xiaomi Band 8 should first be launched in domestic China and only then come to the international market, including ours, because it is one of the really popular activity tracking solutions here. It is likely that we will again see a version with NFC for the possibility of contactless payments directly from the wrist.

For example, you can buy the Xiaomi Band 7 here
