We can talk for hours about how well Tim Cook is leading Apple. It is certain that the company became the most profitable in its history during his tenure. He's not Steve Jobs, but his vision seems clear. Maybe we will have to say goodbye to him as CEO soon.

Apple CEO Tim Cook was born on November 1, 1960. He joined the company in 1998, shortly after Jobs' return to the company, then as senior vice president of operations. In 2002, he became Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Operations, and in 2007 he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer (COO). On August 25, 2011, Apple founder Steve Jobs resigned from the position of CEO due to health reasons, and Tim Cook was appointed to his seat. However, he held this position for a short time in 2004, 2009 and 2011, when Jobs was recovering from pancreatic surgery and a liver transplant.

From the era of Tim Cook, several iconic products were created at Apple. If we are not talking about the established, although constantly innovating, series, we are talking about, for example, the Apple Watch, AirPods headphones, or perhaps the HomePod smart speakers (although whether they are exactly the iconic ones is a question). In April this year, Cook stated that he would certainly leave the company within ten years. And it is quite logical, because he is already 61 years old. Anyway, Kara Swisher's question was put wrong then. She was clearly asking about such a long period of time.

At the time, Cook added that a specific date for his departure was clearly not yet in sight. But they came already in August news about it, that Cook would like to introduce one more Apple product, and then he will actually take a well-deserved retirement. That product should then be none other than Apple Glass. This would start a completely new product line, which should be as important as the iPhone at the beginning, while it should clearly surpass it later. After all, this was stated by the renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He also mentions, that we should expect this product already next year. And it theoretically follows that there is also a risk of the company's CEO leaving.

However, introducing and successfully launching a product line are two different things. And it would be rather sad to see if Cook introduced such unique hardware and immediately stopped being interested in it by resigning from his position. It may be more likely that he will wait another generation or two to have peace of mind that the product is headed in the right direction. So even if we can expect a new CEO next year, it is more likely to be later, around 2025. A suitable successor in the company then he will surely find.
