FaceTime is a native service from Apple, the respective applications of which are available not only on the iPhone, but also on the Mac, for example. Like many other native applications from Apple, FaceTime also works in the vast majority of cases without any problems. However, sometimes you may experience problems signing in to FaceTim on Mac. What to do if you can't sign in to FaceTim on Mac?

FaceTime is an application that you can use to make voice and video calls with other users. To use it, you need to sign in to the service using your Apple ID - then you can start a video call or receive a video call from someone else you know. FaceTime is a relatively secure application for personal and work communication on Apple ecosystem devices such as iPhone, iPad, MacBook, iMac and others. It rarely has bugs and glitches, but it is not completely without problems. One of the most common problems is not being able to log in to FaceTim. What to do in such a case?

Check service availability

Sometimes it can happen that FaceTime simply has an outage. You can check for possible service outages from Apple on the relevant website https://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/ – if you see a yellow or red dot next to FaceTime, it means that the service is experiencing problems at the moment.

Shut down, turn on, reboot…

Perhaps in any article in which we address problems with Apple services, applications or products, we cannot fail to mention the good old "have you tried turning it off and on". This is often a surprisingly effective solution. So try right-clicking the FaceTim icon in the Dock at the bottom of your Mac's screen. In the menu that appears, click on End. You can also try to force quit by clicking on in the upper left corner of the screen Apple menu -> Force Quit. In the list of apps, click on FaceTime, at the bottom, click on Force termination, and try to start FaceTime again. You can also click on the bar at the top of the screen FaceTime -> Settings. Click on the tab In general and at the top of the window, to the right of your Apple ID, click on Log out. Then try logging in again.

Flush the DNS cache

A corrupted local system DNS cache can prevent successful communication with FaceTime servers. Here you will find instructions on how to clear the DNS cache so that the macOS system restores everything necessary and thus solves the possible login problem. From Spotlight or through the Finder launch Terminal. Enter the command in Terminal sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSReply and press Enter. Enter the password for your Mac account.

Automatic time and date

The system date and time greatly affect your Internet connection and other data. If you happened to be setting the date and time manually on your Mac, try switching to automatic date and time. In the upper left corner of the screen, click on Apple menu -> System Settings. On the left, click on General -> Date and Time, and then activate the item at the top of the window Set date and time automatically.
