The Apple Vision Pro has only been on sale for a while, and actually only in the US. Actually, even before the start of sales, the successor, or when Apple could present it, was being discussed. But it won't happen right away, which also means that this product cannot become a mass issue.

We are quite used to the fact that Apple presents certain devices in an annual cycle. This happens with iPhones or Apple Watch. For Macs and iPads, it is about a year and a half for the main models. And then there are, for example, AirPods, which the company updates after about three years, Apple TV rather suddenly, which also applies to the HomePod speakers. But where does the Vision family rank?

It's time for a bestseller

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman states that Apple will not introduce the 2nd generation Apple Vision Pro for 18 months and does not rule out that it could be even later. This would mean that we would see the successor to the current model at WWDC25, which makes a lot of sense given that Apple introduced the first generation at WWDC23. But we're not just looking at the 2nd generation Pro model, we also want a more affordable piece. But we'll wait for that one too.

There are two possibilities, if there will be an "only" Apple Vision, then the company will introduce it together with the 2nd generation Vision Pro, or even later. The answer to why not sooner is quite simple. Of course, if the company had launched a more affordable device earlier, it would have wanted to debug the first ailments of the Pro model. A cheaper device would easily be more perfect than the first Pro model, and that wouldn't look good. Apple wants to learn from the mistakes of the first generation, which is to be helped by feedback from customers and sellers in Apple Stores who have direct contact with them.

It seems ideal to stop selling the first generation with any successor. But precisely because we will not see a successor or a cheaper solution for such a long time, it follows that the products of the Vision family simply cannot become a mass issue at the moment. So Apple wants to debug all the "flies" even before they even try. We can only hope that someone will not catch him by then. Samsung is to introduce its headset already this year, and the Meta will not be idle either.
