Dan Pražák Apple released iOS 12.3 to all users a little while ago. This is already the third major iOS 12 update in a row, which brings in particular the new Apple TV application, which, among other things, also reaches the Czech Republic. Along with the update, iPhones and iPads also receive AirPlay 2 support for TVs, or specific improvements for Apple Music. Of course, there are also fixes for several bugs that plagued the system.
Owners of compatible iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches can download iOS 12.3 in Settings -> In general -> Software update. For the iPhone X, the installation package is 2,8 GB in size. The new software is available to owners of compatible devices, which are all iPhones, iPads and iPod touches that supported iOS 12.
Major news in iOS 12.3 include support for TVs with AirPlay 2 and a redesigned Apple TV app that will become home to the TV+ streaming service in the fall. The application is now also available in the Czech Republic, albeit in a somewhat limited form. However, it offers the same basic functionality, only panels specific to foreign markets and support for third-party services are missing. AirPlay 2
- The AirPlay 2 standard now supports sharing videos, photos, music and other content from iPhone and iPad directly to an AirPlay 2-enabled smart TV
- The one-tap play function automatically plays the selected TV show or movie on the last used device depending on the time and location
- Siri suggestions for watching movies and TV shows now include an AirPlay option
- Smart suggestions are processed directly on the device, so your personal data remains private
Apple TV app
- The Apple TV app has been completely redesigned with an emphasis on collections curated by expert editors and personal recommendations
- Apple TV subscriptions can be shared with up to six family members without any new apps, accounts or passwords
- Buy or rent new movies in the Apple TV app, including a complete catalog of over 100 movies and the largest selection of titles in 000K HDR
- The Apple TV app can now intelligently suggest playback on nearby Apple TV and AirPlay 2-enabled TVs based on which device you're likely to use
This update also includes bug fixes and various improvements, namely:
- Shortens the update interval for music suggestions on the For You tab in Apple Music – these themed suggestions, curated by your favorite genres, artists and moods, are now updated several times a day
- Fixes a bug that could prevent the Apple TV Remote from pausing or controlling video or volume on supported receivers
- Addresses an issue that could cause Wi‑Fi calls to drop
- Eliminates potential problems with displaying track information from a connected iPhone on the in-car display
