Focus is the first major Hollywood film edited in Final Cut Pro X (25.2/XNUMX)

Final Cut Pro X was released almost four years ago, when it received a wave of criticism for major changes in the user experience and many missing features. Only now has it been used in a larger film project. It became Focus, a comedy-crime/drama about ex-con Nicky (Will Smith), who decides to take under his wing the young pimp Jess (Margot Robbie), with whom he later falls in love.

Hardware and software from Apple is said to have played an important role in all parts of the production: during on-set editing, daily screening of the filmed material, and in post-production, when the film was completely edited in Final Cut Pro X. It was even used exclusively to create the opening credits a tool that is a standard part of the program.

In one of the interviews, the directors mentioned that at the beginning they met with cynical remarks from those around them, but the work system based on Apple products proved to be very effective for them - in some cases, they say, it even sped up the process three times.

Viber released its first three games worldwide (February 26.2)

Viber had a limited launch of its first three mobile games some time ago, but only now have they become available in all countries with access to the App Store. They are called Viber Candy Mania, Viber Pop and Viber Wild Luck Casino. They can be played even by people who do not use Viber's main application, the multimedia communicator of the same name, but have access only as "guests", which eliminates the important social aspect of the games.

Communicator users can challenge each other and directly compete, compare scores with friends, gain bonuses by dominating them, or send them gifts.

All three games are conceptually very simple, featuring characters from Viber's "stickers" (large animated emoticons) in various environments. Candy Mania and Pop are puzzles combined with a story about a journey to defeat an evil gummy bear and a "bubble wizard", Wild Luck Casino evokes slot machines.

Candy Mania, Pop i Wild Luck Casino are available for free but contain in-app payments.

WakesApp is the first "Czechoslovak" to-do messenger with global ambitions

Developers from neighboring Slovakia came up with a very interesting and ambitious application. The novelty is called WakesApp and calls itself a to-do messenger. It serves for the practical coordination of everyday life, especially between friends, in the family or as a couple. The application is intended to help with the organization of joint tasks, group planning and reminders.

[youtube id=”4BEsxFeg1QY” width=”600″ height=”350″]

The creators describe the principle of the application on the following example. The user selects a friend from the phone book and sends a request through the application, for example, on Wednesday, to let them know by Friday if they are coming to visit at the weekend. At the same time, it sets the date of this event (naturally on Friday) and the following happens. The friend will receive a message with this request immediately, but in addition, a reminder will also be sent to both interested parties on Friday evening.

So the application works like a regular communication application, but is supplemented with a list of tasks and reminders. It also allows you to easily mark tasks as completed or send motivational and thank you stickers to friends.

For a closer idea of how WakesApp works, watch the attached video. The app is completely free to download and does not contain any in-app purchases.

Important update

Tweetbot for iPhone will now play Twitter videos

Tweetbot, the popular client for the social network Twitter, received a minor update this week that brings support for videos and animated GIFs uploaded directly to Twitter. In addition, Tweetbot in version 3.5.2 only brings classic minor bug fixes.

Videos were launched on Twitter only at the end of January this year, and users thus gained the opportunity to upload them directly to this microblogging network. Previously, it was necessary to use various third-party services to upload videos to Twitter, among which Instagram stood out. The latest version of Tweetbot does not allow you to upload videos to Twitter, but at least it brings the ability to play them directly in the application.

Spotify will soon have direct integration with MusixMatch

Spotify has announced that it will be releasing an update to its desktop app with a big update. This will be a direct integration of the Musixmatch service with the largest catalog of song lyrics in the world. Until now, this service was available in Spotify as an extension that the user could install. However, it will now be directly part of the application for both PC and Mac.

[youtube id=”BI7KH14PAwQ” width=”600″ height=”350″]

In order to sing a song along with your favorite artist, it will be enough to press the new "LYRICS" button, which will be anchored in the lower right corner of the Spotify window. The new function will also have its own discovery option "Explore". You will thus be able to browse popular texts at random in your spare time.

In addition, Spotify will also come with a better overview of what your friends are listening to, as well as new charts of the most shared songs. That way, you will always have an overview of what is being listened to in the world or in your immediate surroundings.

Google Maps will now allow you to save a public transport connection to your calendar

Google Maps has also received updates. It comes in the new version 4.3.0 and, among other things, it also brings the possibility to add a public transport connection to the calendar. In addition to minor bug fixes, the new feature also includes the application's new ability to display businesses in the vicinity of the address you are currently searching for, and quick display of interesting information about popular points of interest.

The update comes not long after Google introduced the new "Local Guides". This is also reflected in the new version of Google Maps. If you publish business reviews, you can now earn a local guide badge in the application.

John Gruber's Vesper comes with landscape mode and iPad support

Blogger John Gruber's modern notes app Vesper has also received a major update. In the new version, Vesper brings the long-awaited landscape mode to the iPhone, so the user will finally be able to view, manage and create notes in landscape mode.

But also pleasing is the fact that the application is newly universal, which means that native iPad support has been added. So Vesper, which supports wireless synchronization, suddenly goes up a notch. In addition, the iPad also now boasts support for landscape mode.

Vesper is an application to the App Store launched in 2013. Behind it is a team around Apple blogger John Gruber, and its domain is primarily simplicity, a modern look, the possibility of tagging notes, and also its own synchronization solution that is not dependent on iCloud.

The update is free for existing users. However, the new ones will pay for the application, which is not quite popular 7,99 €.
