Apple has made another acquisition, for an undisclosed amount it acquired British Camel Audio, a developer of popular audio software including various plugins, synthesizers or effects. Camel Audio closed shop back in January, but only now has it become clear that it has been acquired by Apple.

The British development studio was known for its Alchemy software, which contained over 1000 sounds, several gigabytes of samples, many kinds of synthesizers and more. This powerful tool was mainly used by those who wanted to create unique music tracks.

But in January came a surprise when Camel Audio suddenly announced the end and pulled its software from sale. However, today the server MacRumors from company registers found out, that Camel Audio most likely now belongs to Apple, which will soon also confirmed to Jim Dalrymple of The Loop.

"Apple buys small technology companies from time to time and generally does not discuss its intentions or plans," a company spokesperson said in the traditional line confirming the acquisition.

Apple's intentions with Camel Audio are not really known, however, there is a high probability that the Californian company will use the newly acquired software to improve its GarageBand music application, or to improve Logic Pro X, a professional music production tool.
