News from the world of applications

Apple reportedly looking to buy Path (9/9)

Path is mobile social network similar Facebook. Apple is said to be interested in buying it (or buying the company that created and operates it), which may be, after the failure of iTunes Ping, Apple's next attempt to break into the phenomenon of social networks. More specifically, the integration of Path properties into the "Messages" app is speculated.

The source of this information is how states PandoDaily, "a person deep in Apple's development team". In addition, Path appeared in several Apple commercials, and Dave Morin, the company's founder, sat in the front row (otherwise reserved for high-ranking Apple employees) for the final keynote.

However, it is possible that this report is just one of many false information related to Path that has been circulating recently spreads internet.

These spectacular flights will take place in a "live 3D environment". The release date and price are not yet known.

The last time a SimCity edition game was released for iOS was in 2010, when SimCity Deluxe was released for the iPad.

The Transmit app is also heading to iOS 8 from Mac (11/9)

Transmit is a well-known OS X application for managing files, especially sharing them via FTP and SFTP servers and Amazon S3 cloud storage or via WebDAV. iOS 8 will bring wide possibilities of interaction between applications, which includes working with the same files. It is precisely this functionality that the iOS version of Transmit, whose beta is currently being tested, wants to use on a large scale.

Transmit for iOS will not only serve as an intermediary for accessing files on servers, but also as a local library of files that other applications can access and edit. Access to files stored on the server, however, is more interesting, what Transmit allows. For example, through it we find a .pages file on the server, open it in the Pages application on the given iOS device, and the modifications made to it are saved to the original file on the server from which we accessed it.

Similarly, it will be possible to work with files created directly in the given iOS device. We edit the photo, which we upload to the selected server via Transmit in the "share sheet" (submenu for sharing).

Security will be possible either with a password or with a fingerprint on devices equipped with Touch ID.

Transmit for iOS will be available after iOS 8 is released to the public on September 17th.

New applications

Super Monkey Ball Bounce

Super Monkey Ball Bounce is a new game in the Super Monkey Ball series. "Bounce" is basically a combination of Angry Birds and pinball. The player's task is to control the cannon (aiming and shooting). The shot ball must go through a maze of obstacles and collect as many points as possible for hitting various objects. The more general task is to get through all 111 levels and rescue your monkey friends from captivity.

Graphically, the game is quite rich, featuring six different worlds and plenty of environments and a wide palette of sharp, eye-catching colors.

Of course, there is competition with Facebook friends by getting the highest amount of points and moving to the top of the leaderboard.

Important update

WhatsApp Messenger

The new version (2.11.9) of the popular communication application brings the ability to send slow-motion videos from the iPhone 5S and the ability to trim them directly in the application. Both videos and photos are now also faster to take thanks to the new control. They can also be enriched with labels. Notifications have gained several new possible tones and the background menu has been expanded. Location sharing has been improved with the ability to display aerial and hybrid maps, the exact location can be determined by moving the pin. The latest news mentioned is the possibility of setting automatic download of multimedia files, archiving of chats and group conversations, and attaching screenshots when reporting errors.

Viber

Viber is also an application for multimedia communication. While its desktop version has been allowing video calling in addition to text, audio and images for quite some time, the mobile version of the app only comes with this capability with the latest version 5.0.0. Video calling is free, it only requires an internet connection.

The advantage of Viber is that it does not require creating a new account, the user's phone number is enough. When someone in the user's contacts installs Viber, a notification is automatically sent to them.
