Netflix will prevent users from accessing through proxies and VPNs (January 15)

As we informed you, Netflix has spread practically all over the world in the last week. It can already be enjoyed by residents of the Czech Republic, who until then could only access the service's video library unofficially, when they used an American IP address obtained through a proxy or VPN.

But as Netflix completed its territorial expansion, it immediately announced that it would stop tolerating users who access the service in this way and would introduce measures to prevent users from accessing content that is not intended for their region. Those Czechs who continue to use the American version of Netflix will also be out of luck, because it has about ten times the catalog of content compared to ours.

This measure was probably resorted to by Netflix as a result of pressure from copyright owners. David Fullagar he said on the Netflix blog, that the company is trying to obtain global licenses for the content. However, this is often not possible, as historical practice, which has not yet been overcome, unfortunately speaks in favor of region-bound digital licenses.

New applications

Jukebox is the ideal player for Dropbox music

The new Jukebox application has arrived in the App Store, which will allow you to elegantly play music from the Dropbox cloud storage. The application is primarily based on offline music playback and an engaging and simple user interface. Its big advantage is the promise of the developers that the application will always be free and free of advertising.

The app was created by the team behind the website, for example The Drop, which is a kind of social network for musicians and dance music lovers. In addition, the key man is Justin Kan, who is behind the Twitch platform, for example. So the team certainly has enough resources to finance the application even if it is completely free.

On a positive note, Product Hunt enthusiasts are already helping the development team with new features, including the ability to privately share music with specific people. The user will soon be able to share his music collection with his friends. They will then be able to stream and download the shared music for listening without an internet connection.

Interact: contact management for advanced iPhone and iPad users

The developers at Agile Tortoise have launched a brand new app for iPhone and iPad that brings more advanced features for managing and editing contacts. The application contains extensions that allow users to create contacts from information found in other applications. Interact also includes various notebooks in which you can create new entries or groups for sending mass messages and e-mails.

The developers claim that their application will make it much easier to communicate with people within a work team or family. The application also supports cloud storage such as iCloud, Google and others.

At first glance, it may seem that the application is not as clear as the native one from Apple. However, if you get to know the application enough, it can probably save a lot of time. In addition, Interact offers many interesting improvements, including shortcuts for 3D Touch.

Interact is already here available in the App Store, at the misleading price of €4,99. It is certain that the price will go up soon, so don't miss this unique opportunity.

Important update

Periscope can now stream videos directly from the Twitter app

Twitter developers have found a way to engage users even more in their application. Twitter has always proudly claimed that it's the only way to see what's really happening in the world. This time, however, it wasn't just empty words and promises. At the beginning of last year, the company already took under its wing the mobile application Periscope, which enables real video streaming to the entire world.

Newly, videos taken through Periscope will begin to be shown to Twitter users directly on their timeline, where I will also start automatically. Likewise, just click on them and the video will instantly switch to full screen mode.

Until now, users could only share a link to a broadcast on Twitter, and people would be redirected to the Periscope app when they clicked on it. Now everything will be easier and more convenient, and users do not have to click from one application to another.

On the other hand, it is already evident that users will lose interaction with other people, as they will see comments or hearts on Twitter, but will no longer be able to create them themselves. It is also evident that the new services will also be used by companies that will be able to use Periscope broadcasts for advertising purposes.

1Password brings news to both Mac and iOS, even users with a license from the developer's website can synchronize via iCloud

The developers at AgileBits have brought some pretty big updates to their popular password manager called 1Password. The application received news on both iOS and OS X, and there are certainly quite a few of them.

On iOS, 1Password users can now shorten the path to their passwords via 3D Touch. The application in version 6.2 brings Peek and Pop support inside the application as well as quick options from its icon. You can initiate a search, get to your favorite items or create a new record directly from the application icon.

But that's not all. The options for handling items in individual vaults have also been improved, thanks to which they can be easily copied and moved between vaults. The developers are said to have also worked on the search, with which you should now achieve better results. The handy Watchtower feature also arrived on iOS, which will notify you if there has been a security failure on any of the sites you use and you should therefore change your password.

Perhaps even more important is the update of 1Password for Mac, where a new version marked 6.0 found its way. Thanks to the innovations in Apple's rules, this brings synchronization via iCloud even for users who bought the application outside the Mac App Store, and it also brings further improvements in the area of team sharing of passwords or work with vaults.

The password generator has also received pleasant news, which now allows you to also create passwords randomly composed of real words. According to the developers, passwords generated in this way are strong enough and easier to remember.

Both updates are free for existing users.

Outlook for iOS comes with Skype integration

The successful email client Outlook on iOS obviously wants to gradually become the work center of every entrepreneur. First, Microsoft began to fully integrate the popular Sunrise calendar into the application, which the company previously bought, and now another interesting integration is coming. You can now initiate Skype calls directly from Outlook.

In addition to the practical shortcut to calling, Outlook also comes with the option to schedule a call directly in the calendar. Arranging a video conference with, for example, colleagues at work is thus easier than ever before. In addition, the calendar also received a new three-day display.

Outlook is completely free to download, works on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, and recently added 3D Touch support.

Spark email client for iPhone brings new features and improvements

The popular email app Spark from the developers at Readdle has come with several new updates. For example, you can now set your own signature for each e-mail account separately, which users have been asking for. Intelligent search and improved notifications have also received support and improvements.

The developers from Readdle, who are also behind the popular applications PDF Expert, Calendars 5 and Documents 5, promise that the new Spark application for iPad and Mac will come soon.

Microsoft has updated its office suite Office 2016 for Mac

Microsoft updated its Office 2016 suite for Mac on Wednesday. In addition to the standard bug fixes and stability improvements, the Outlook and PowerPoint e-mail clients received improvements and new features, for example.

Outlook users can now, for example, use the full-screen view of the application. People using Word on Mac can now save PDF files. The spreadsheet application Excel or PowerPoint for creating presentations has also been improved.

The update is only available to users who have a subscription to Office 365. You can start the update of office packages using the AutoUpadate system directly after starting the applications in question.

Mailplane has gained support for Inbox, making it a native Mac app

Mailplane is a nifty Mac app that lets you use Gmail as a full native app with all the benefits it brings. In the latest version, this app has learned to support Inbox by Gmail as well, a modern alternative to Gmail, which can, among other things, effectively sort mail and work with it as tasks.

In addition, Mailplane received even smaller improvements, such as the ability to return the window to its original zoom state or the ability to remember the state of the UI when the application is closed.

But the key innovation is the support of Inbox, which has already found many fans who may be bothered by the absence of a native application. For more than a month, though there is a handy Boxy client, which will also offer Inbox users the luxury of a native app and is much cheaper than Mailplane. While you pay less than €5 for Boxes, you pay €24 for Mailplane. But the advantage of Maiplane is that it not only puts Inbox in the guise of a native application, but also Gmail itself, Calendar and Contacts from Google. And you won't pay anything for the exam anyway. Mailplane offers a 15-day free trial.
