After a long wait, the world's most famous streaming service has arrived in our countries. The Czech Republic is one of the 130 countries for which Netflix was officially launched. The company's co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings announced today at the CES technology fair in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"Today you are witnessing the birth of a new global internet television. With this global launch, consumers from Singapore and St. Petersburg to San Francisco and São Paulo can enjoy TV series and movies at the same time. Without any waiting. With the help of the Internet, we bring users the ability to watch anything, anytime, on any device," Hastings said.
As a groundbreaking streaming service, Netflix is now reaching virtually the entire world. The last major market where Netflix won't be is China, but it is said to be there one day as well. Finally, even in the Czech Republic, we will be able to comfortably consume visual content of all kinds - on which devices and in what quality, it depends on the selected package.
The basic package costs €7,99 (approx. CZK 216), but it is relatively limited, as it does not support streaming in HD (that is, not even in Ultra HD) and it is not possible to watch content on more than one device. The standard package is provided for €9,99 (approx. CZK 270) and, compared to the basic type, allows users to stream in HD quality and on two devices at the same time. The premium package rose to a price of €11,99 (approx. CZK 324). For this price, subscribers can enjoy TV series and movies even in Ultra HD quality and on up to four devices at the same time.
Only half the joy so far
Each package provides the first month of free streaming. It goes without saying that unlimited viewing of movies and series both on a laptop and on televisions, smartphones and tablets and immediate cancellation of the subscription is also possible. This can be bought traditionally via credit card or PayPal.
The announcement of the arrival of Netflix in the Czech Republic was accompanied by great enthusiasm on the domestic Internet and social networks, after all, we have all been waiting for the popular streaming service for a really long time, but we cannot yet rejoice completely freely. The content available on Czech Netflix will have neither Czech dubbing nor Czech subtitles. Popular original content such as Bloodline or Daredevil will be available only in the original version. In addition, for example, the most popular series House of Cards is not offered by Netflix at all due to the rights (probably because of Czech Television, which broadcasts the series).
Netflix does not even have the latest movie news, but neither does the American one, so the Czech user will not be at a disadvantage here. However, Netflix continues to push its own content - this year it announced 31 new series series (either complete new series or continuing series) as well as several of its own films and documentaries. For starters, it probably won't be enough anyway, and we can only hope that at least the Czech subtitles, and maybe later the Czech dubbing, will come as soon as possible.
netflix and chill
I wonder if it will be possible to find European films. Especially not dubbing. Subtitles please!
I would like a manual on how to find my way there.. I already know when there is something to download, and it's simple and clear, but somehow I can't find my way around netflix :(
Netflix has a pretty sophisticated system of personal preferences - it selects shows based on what you watch and then offers them. Otherwise, it's sorted by genre, which suits me quite well, I just find a category according to my mood (horror, comedy, etc.) and choose a specific movie or series from it.
I just came back from the iStyle store, I wanted to buy an Apple TV. The seller informed me that the service is not working. Can someone who owns an Apple TV confirm if this is true? In the case of Netflix, there is a device activation item. Couldn't there be a problem there? Has anyone tried it? Thanks for the reply.
I have a previous generation Apple TV (3rd gen. I think) and Netflix works fine, I just created an account. Works on MacBook, iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. You can even end on one device and continue on the other at the same time - it works like Handoff :) only there are fewer shows than I'm used to in the US but I expect it will improve over time.
Is it necessary to register the device on the Netflix website?
It's not, you just select the types of devices you'll play on when you register, but I don't see what it's good for. It is general, such as a laptop, smart TV, Apple TV, Xbox, mobile device, etc. Then you just log in with your email and password for the individual devices.
So the summary is that I bought an Apple TV 3. Everything works great, Netflix works after logging in, although the offer is austere, but I believe it will expand. Otherwise, the staff at iStyle is as smart as a monkey, but they fart, they claimed that there is no Netflix on ATV 3, that Apple must first complete the application with an update, and that the only thing to buy is ATV4. I don't see, this didn't seem fair to me!
I have a similar experience with iWant. When I bought an Apple TV there a year ago, they had it installed for testing, but the internet didn't work at the store. He smiles quite a bit. And about what services and stations are supported, even CR knew almost nothing.
Thanks for the response and advice.
When I wanted a Lightning USB 3, they looked at me like a goose in a bottle, and the gentleman who served me had the breath of a hyena. And he constantly convinced me that there is no such thing. ?
This will be the wide range of Apple products... surely it won't be easy to remember all 3 laptops, 3 desktops, 2(3) tablets, 2 phones, 2 televisions and original accessories?
Exactly! I thought that instead of the person going to the piercing salon for stretching the ears. He should read the apple picker sometimes.
Well, it doesn't bother me much. I have an ATV3, current firmware and Netflix is not on the menu. So I don't think the attendant was lying, she just might have had the same experience.
Try to look in the main menu settings, list of services, Netflix is there, try to hide the service and enable it again. I also couldn't find it at first and then I made this switch and Netflix appeared in the first position in the menu.
Exactly, mainly the service is new and external, it changes every moment now. So I would be more careful with those "monkeys".
I don't see why I should be careful, I was not satisfied with the store staff and the staff gave me that impression. I have a habit of checking things before I buy something, and when I asked if I could try the ATV3, it didn't work, but they have ATV4 on display, they probably have 3 in the warehouse somewhere, even if they could unpack one and plug it in, but that's a lot of work! I also used to work in the store like that and I definitely did not give unfounded information. They should have a different approach to the fact that it is a hogofogo store, even if they should call the Apple hotline and verify the information. Everything else is just bullshit. Otherwise, I left about 3 thousand in that store in the last 100 years, so I would deserve a certain effort.
Will you see Netflix even if your region is set to the Czech Republic?
It will normally be displayed in both Apple TV and the App Store in iOS for the CR region. In Apple TV, it can be hidden from the main menu. Settings - Main menu - Netflix - show
