When Apple introduced the iPhone 15, it brought several design innovations, one of the biggest of which was a USB-C port instead of Lightning. Many were really looking forward to it, and while it may be something to celebrate, it also has its ills. That is also why Apple started selling one updated accessory together with the iPhone 15.

It's not really an exclusive, but it may surprise many that this accessory still exists. With the advent of AirPods, the classic wired EarPods retreated after all. At Apple, however, you can still find these classic wired earphones with a stone construction, from which the 1st and 2nd generation AirPods are based. And that in three variants.

For CZK 590, you can buy EarPods with a 3,5 mm headphone jack, Lightning and, now, with a USB-C connector. All for the same price. It is, however, true that many sellers reacted to the "death" of Lightning by drastically discounting this variant of headphones, when you can easily get them with a discount of CZK 100 (e.g. here).

Why want wired EarPods?

You might be thinking that such accessories no longer have a place in Apple's portfolio. It's not entirely true, because the user has different needs, and I personally am the proof. I have AirPods Pro, which are perfect for listening to music, but I can't make phone calls with them. As I move my jaw while talking, my ears move with it and my headphones just fall off. It is very annoying to constantly adjust them, despite the fact that it hurts a lot during a long call.

When I tested the 3rd generation AirPods, I lasted an hour with them only to throw them in the corner and condemn them to family donation. It didn't work with them either. Yes, I already know that the problem in this regard is in my case, not the headphones. But EarPods are small headphones that don't have to contain so much technology, which makes them light and therefore absolutely perfect for long calls. They don't fall off, they don't hurt your ears, they are of sufficient quality, only you can sometimes get tangled in the wire.

Just one difference

Gone are the days when Apple included EarPods in iPhone packaging. Gone are those when he offered them in an interesting plastic cover. The new Earpods only come in a small paper box, in which the headphones are placed in an interesting paper fold. It's just a shame that it has no further purpose. They are completely identical to EarPods with a 3,5 mm jack connector and those with a Lightning connector.

The size of the headphones is the same, the volume control is the same, the cable length is the same. The only thing that differs is of course the mentioned connectors. The quality is also identical, at least judging by what my hearing can detect. Despite the fact that they are nuts, they always surprise me with their sound delivery. But I don't really have them for music, I'm concerned with phone calls, for which it's simply ideal and an original Apple solution "for a few crowns". It's just a shame that Apple still hasn't used a braided cable here. But I will probably never get to see that, so I take what is. And I'm actually satisfied.
