We've already written a lot about the new maps in iOS 6, so everyone knows what the problems are with them. However, Apple faced the whole case when Tim Cook v official statement admitted that the new Maps were far from ideal and advised users to use competing maps.

The reaction of the executive director of the Californian company comes after a huge wave of criticism that fell on Apple after the release of iOS 6, which also included the new Maps application from Apple's workshop. It came with very low-quality map materials, so it is often completely unusable in some places (especially in the Czech Republic).

Apple has now acknowledged through Tim Cook that the new Maps do not yet reach such qualities, and advised dissatisfied users to temporarily switch to a competitor.

to our customers,

at Apple, we strive to create first-class products that guarantee the best experience for our customers. However, we didn't quite stick to that commitment last week when we launched the new Maps. We're very sorry for the frustration we've caused our customers, and we're doing everything we can to make Maps better.

We launched maps already with the first version of iOS. Over time, we wanted to offer our customers the best possible maps with functions such as turn-by-turn navigation, voice integration, Flyover and vector maps. In order to achieve this, we had to build a completely new map application from the ground up.

The new Apple Maps is currently used by more than 100 million iOS devices, and many more are added every day. In just over a week, iOS users have searched for nearly half a billion locations in the new Maps. The more users use our Maps, the better they will be. We greatly appreciate all the feedback we receive from you.

While we're improving our Maps, you can try alternatives like Bing, MapQuest and Waze z App Store, or you can use Google or Nokia maps in their web interface and look at them on the desktop of your devices create a shortcut with an icon.

At Apple, we strive to make every product we create the best in the world. We know that's what you expect from us, and we'll work around the clock until Maps meets the same high standard.
