The ninth of August is a big day for the developer studio Cultured Code. After months of promises and endless waiting, it finally managed to release a major update for its popular GTD tool. Things 2.0 is here and it brings what everyone has been waiting for – cloud sync. And much more…
Things have been a very popular time and task management tool on both Mac and iOS, but developers let themselves be overtaken by the competition when they took too long to implement cloud sync. But after several months of beta testing, they have already solved this, and so an update with the serial number 2.0 appeared in the App Store and the Mac App Store.
Cultured Code claims that this is a major update that is available for free to all current Things users.
The biggest innovation is undoubtedly the already mentioned cloud synchronization. Things have their own system called Things Cloud, which ensures that you have automatically updated content on all devices without having to pair iPhones, iPads and Macs in any way. You just activate Things Cloud in the settings, log in and you're done. I have personally tested this cloud solution for several months and it works really well. Still, it doesn't overpower the fact that it should have come much earlier.
The second significant innovation that Things 2.0 brings for Mac, iPhone and iPad is the so-called Daily Review, which enables easier work with current tasks. In the Today section, all new tasks that have been scheduled for that day are displayed, and it is possible to simply move them or confirm them for the current day.
Things for Mac also brings compatibility with OS X Mountain Lion, support for the Retina display of the new MacBook Pro, full-screen mode and sandboxing. Some control elements received a graphic modification, which certainly improved the overall appearance. Integration with system systems is also now simpler Reminders.
The iOS version has also undergone a pleasant graphical change, which, in addition to the above-mentioned functions, brings one more novelty. When selecting a date for individual tasks, an excellent calendar pops up, which speeds up the entire process of selecting the desired date. You do not move between individual months using the arrows, but only by scrolling. Definitely a faster solution than the familiar rotating wheel.

Hi, I got stuck in the middle of the upgrade and it doesn't continue and reports an error. You can't even go back to the old Things. Has this happened to anyone else? Did you solve it?

Thanks for the advice ;) unfortunately it keeps reporting the "problem report for Things" error window. They have a form where I can write my email and a comment, but when I fill it all out, it can't be sent. :(
It happened to me at home too, at work the update went OK.
I guess we just have to wait, I didn't find any mention on Google.
At least I managed to send an error report to CC.
It does it on my 2009 imac (first 27″).
Late. It's not that long ago that I was dealing with the dilemma between Things and OmniFocus and the latter won because of the synchronization between iOS devices.
OmniFocus won for me not only for Cloud sync, but also for advanced options. Actually looks and more perfect organization. In any case, Sync with Things on the iPhone is faster than with the competitor.
I use OmniFocus on both my MacBook and iPad and have no complaints.
It's not possible... :) I wonder how many people left Things precisely because of the impossibility of adequate synchronization. I switched to Omnifocus and I can't complain. But I'll download Things again out of curiosity to see.
That's right, late. Wunderlist is enough for me and fully suits the price :)

The beta has been working without problems for a month now, so I didn't have a problem. but I'm glad for the 2nd one, finally I don't have to have the "beta" icon in the dock, besides, they are re-typed according to areas / projects in Today.
I've tried x different gtd applications and things I like for their simplicity - nothing bothers me anywhere, moreover, drag & drop and cloud sync work without problems.
I've also switched to OmniFocus, overall I'm happy with it. I find it clearer (perspectives), more flexible than Things. So I can only thank the long-term absence of Things cloud sync, otherwise I probably wouldn't have switched to OF... Bad luck, CC.
Absolutely great program! After the addition of cloud sync, its genius developed into minimalistic perfection in terms of features and functionality. Thanks to the current discount on MacOX, I am now complete…
