This February, Apple unveiled a rather interesting and long-awaited feature called Tap to Pay, with the help of which virtually any iPhone can be turned into a payment terminal. For others, all they have to do is hold their phone and pay via the Apple Pay payment method. Undoubtedly, this is an amazing feature with huge potential. In addition, according to available information, it is now starting in some Apple Stores in the United States of America, where customers will be able to try it out.

Although Tap to Pay seems like a perfect gadget at first glance, it has a huge problem that concerns us in particular. It probably won't surprise any fan that they can just forget about this function (for now). As usual, it will be functional only in the United States, while we are simply out of luck. But that is not the only problem. So let's shine a light on it together and say where Apple makes a bad mistake.

Untapped potential

Of course, it is rather premature to say that Apple is once again squandering the potential of its new Tap to Pay feature, at least that is how the situation appears for now. As we mentioned above, without a doubt the biggest hurdle is that the feature is only available in the United States for now, and will be until some Friday. Another important problem is again related to its availability, which also affects American apple growers, who simply do not enjoy the function. According to official information from Apple, only merchants will have it available. So the common man will not be able to use it. It is precisely in this respect that many apple growers agree that this is how the Cupertino giant is wasting a great opportunity.

However, some may argue with the Apple Pay Cash feature that allows money to be sent via iMessage. The whole process is extremely simple, fast and perfect for families or groups of friends. This feature has been available since 2017, and during its existence, it has become a solid tool for many users of Apple operating systems. It is because of this option that the introduction of Tap to Pay may seem pointless for individuals when they can simply transfer money through the native Messages app. However, it should also be added that this function is unexpectedly only available in the US.

Facilitating smaller trades

However, the Tap to Pay function for individuals can serve completely different purposes. Transferring money between friends can of course be done quickly through the aforementioned Apple Pay Cash. But what if the person in question is selling something to a stranger, or doing a house sale and the like? In such a situation, it would be appropriate for him to be able to accept payments by card, or via Apple Pay, which could significantly facilitate many matters. But as it looks for now, American apple growers can forget about such a thing for the time being.
