As part of the conference in New York, the first smart watch of the luxury Swiss brand Tag Heuer was presented today, which the company she promised already in March. The watch is called Connected, runs on the Android Wear platform and is aimed, as is usual with this brand, at a more affluent clientele. The Tag Heuer Connected costs $1, and at first glance it's clear that it's a luxury item that doesn't deny its origins. In short, the designers have done everything to create a smartwatch that doesn't look smart.
The Connected is the first Android Wear watch to enter the market with a price tag above $1. Tag Heuer is therefore not afraid to compare them with the Apple Watch, which also exists in a gold version for $000. Tag Heuer watches are not made of gold, but of titanium, which is stronger and lighter than steel. Like the Apple Watch, the Connected watch is customizable to the customer's taste. They are available with six different rubber bands. But the Swiss watch house will not please men with smaller hands. The Tag Heuer Connected has a relatively large 17mm dial.

The inside of the watch is powered by an Intel processor, which is quite rare in the world of smart watches. Most watches with the Android Wear system have a chip from Qualcomm, and Apple traditionally bets on its own chip. The touch dial protects the sapphire crystal. The watch offers "all-day battery life" and recharging takes place in a simple docking station. In terms of connectivity, there is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a microphone that records voice commands.
So far, the company has developed three digital dials that faithfully imitate the classic analog design that won the brand many rock fans. There is a chronograph, a traditional three-hand dial and a world time indicator. All three types of dials are then available in black, white and blue. But of course you can also use any other watch face available from the Google Play Store, because the compatibility with Android Wear is absolutely full-fledged despite the atypical embossing of this smart watch. It is nice that the Swiss watchmakers have also developed several native applications for their watches, including a stopwatch and an alarm clock.
Clearly, the Tag Heuer Connected Watch is not a watch for everyone. Dropping $1 (converted to almost 500 crowns) on the counter for consumer electronics, even if they are Swiss and luxurious, is not something the masses of people do every day. However, Connected is in any case a watch that is worth paying attention to. This is the first smart watch from the workshop of traditional Swiss watchmakers and therefore a product that has no analogues yet. Another niche in the market was thus filled, and that is only good for customers.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...
hmm, you look so cheap for a Tag Heuer :(
I admit that I like the design more than the Apple Watch, which too many women belong to me.
But I doubt that most people who I am buying a Tag Heuer watch, I have an Android phone.
It looks great...but in order for the watch to get what I really need and make sense, Tag Heuer will have to have its own software department...otherwise it will just be another android watch. Hmm, that's a development a little different for many years and a lot of money... I don't see it.
Just the animations... I'm having a hard time getting an idea of how they'll really look/work. It's like an advertisement projected on some surface on
Piccadilly Circus.
I can't help but write. So this comment amused me the most: "Aaaaaaaj jajaj.
I love how some readers here uncritically dismiss anything that doesn't have an apple logo. I have everything possible from Apple, phone, tablet, laptop, iMac. Still, I don't uncritically admire anything Apple puts out. Apple watch, for example, didn't suit me at all. 100 people, 100 opinions…
In my opinion, AW should have looked exactly like these TAG Heuers. Design to the first. Round dial as well. At least it will look something like AW digitals on the hand. And as for Android Wear, I like its sleekness far more than Watch OS. But as I say, 100 people, 100 opinions…
Anyway, this is the first smartwatch I'll consider.
And for rembaz - Android Wear has been compatible with iOS for some time now... ;-)
Thanks for the interesting information. I missed that. The question is to what extent. But I have a problem with Google because that company throws itself into all possible areas and very often terminates various projects and services. And I don't want to buy a new watch every now and then in a similar price category.
In terms of hardware, the watch does not offer anything other than the Apple watch, it does not have GPS or NFC.
I myself am waiting for the next generation of Apple watch, as I assume that they will have a similar development as the iPhone used to have.
