Apparently, nothing can replace the well-known classic Mario Kart, and we will most likely not see it on iOS. Fortunately, there are several iOS alternatives. It can be considered one of them Table Top Racing.

Small cars, simple controls and bonuses. Three ingredients that, when wrapped in a nice package, create a recipe for a fun game for everyone. Although Table Top Racing is not the type of game that will blow you away from the start, like Real Racing 3, but it doesn't hurt. The game focuses primarily on gameplay and excels at it.

Like most racing arcades, Table Top Racing is divided into several sections. Championship, special tracks and fast race. The most interesting is, of course, the championship, in which you work your way through several game modes until the final tournament and cup. Game modes include, for example, elimination, time trial, smashing into the enemy or perhaps a turbo track. On most tracks, you will encounter bonuses, of which there are only nine, but they bring the game to life pleasantly - bomb, turbo, electroshock, rocket and others.

What about cars and environments? As the name suggests, Table Top Racing take place on the table. The environment is set in a total of eight mini tracks, on which you can find things like knives, hamburgers, screwdrivers, lamps, bottles, kettles... simply "what the house gave". These objects define the tracks and in more than one case you will get caught on them. Fortunately, the game reacts promptly and immediately restarts the vehicle on the track in case of any off-track collision or fall off the track.

Speaking of strollers, let's talk more about them. You only have two available at the start, there are ten available in total. Each mini car is rendered in detail and there is a minor upgrade system. Unfortunately it is automatic. You can use the money earned in the races to improve the characteristics of the car, but only one at a time, which is fixed by the game. First, for example, turbo, then speed and finally acceleration. I don't understand this system a bit and it probably won't be pleasant for everyone. You only have a free hand when choosing wheel rims, which add different features and can be bought with the money you earn. The same goes for paint colors, but only four are available for each car. Additional cars can either be won in championships or purchased with in-game currency. If winning races isn't enough for you, more coins can be purchased through In-App purchases.

The races themselves are really fun, though erratic. The order of competitors changes really quickly, as one bonus in the game can mix up the entire order. It often happens that you are in first place for the last lap, but someone blows you up in the last corner and you finish last. It's frustrating at first, but after a few races you'll learn how to handle the bonuses and controls better and everything is suddenly more fun. The controls here are a bit different from other racing games. We can't find gas or brake here. You have either two buttons for turning or an accelerometer. Then there are buttons to use bonuses, nothing more. The controls are simple and thanks to this you can focus more on the game and on destroying your opponents.

Table Top Racing won't beat it Mini Motor Racing, nor a real simulator like Real Racing 3. But you will enjoy the fun just like playing Mario Kart. If you add multiplayer, which can be played with up to four friends locally or via Game Center, the fun will grow even more. The graphics side of the game is at a very good level, but the soundtrack is rather average. The playing time of the championships will not be dizzying, but they will keep you entertained for a few hours together with the special tracks. The game is iOS universal and supports Game Center including leaderboards and achievements. It also offers iCloud synchronization, but it does not work (v.1.0.4). And be careful when buying, the game does not officially support iPhone 3GS and iPod 3rd generation. Table Top Racing is not a blockbuster, but if you enjoy the aforementioned Mario Kart and similar games, definitely give TTR a chance.
