Apple users all over the world have been encountering a rather annoying problem lately, when they can't play music from Spotify via AirPlay. Although at first the problem seemed trivial, practically after a while Spotify itself caused a huge panic. On their discussion forums, the moderator commented that the implementation of the AirPlay 2 protocol is being suspended due to major complications. This statement almost immediately gained attention, and Spotify is therefore doing a 180° turn.

According to the information so far, the necessary drivers are mainly to blame. However, the music giant Spotify still contacted the biggest portals to explain the whole situation to them. According to them, the mentioned post on the discussion forum did not contain complete information. In fact, Spotify will fully support the AirPlay 2 protocol, which is already being intensively worked on. The streaming platform, on the other hand, offers its own solution in the form of Spotify Connect, which can be used to control audio from your various devices. Although there is also 100% support for Google Cast, it is quite logical that omitting the latest streaming protocol from Apple would not be the best option.

Speculations are also starting to appear among Apple fans as to whether the current dispute between Apple and Spotify is behind this situation. As you may know, these giants do not have the healthiest relationship with each other, with Spotify in particular strongly objecting to the terms of the App Store and its fees. The streaming company even called the Cupertino giant a bully in the past and filed an antitrust complaint against him. So the question is whether the current problem is real or just some sort of settling of accounts. In any case, Apple users using Spotify are the worst off. At the moment, they have practically no option but to temporarily switch to an alternative service that fully supports AirPlay.
