Spotify expands its range of functions and adds the so-called Sleep Timer to the app for iOS. Owners of Android devices have been able to use the aforementioned feature since the beginning of this year, and now, after a few months, it is also coming to iPhones.

As the name suggests, the new function allows you to set a time after which the playback will automatically stop. Sleep Timer therefore appears to be ideal especially for those who listen to music or podcasts while falling asleep in the evening. Thanks to the novelty, listeners do not have to worry about the playback going on all night.

Setting up the function is relatively simple. Just activate the screen with the player while playing a song/podcast, then click on the three dots icon in the upper right corner and then select Sleep Timer in the menu. Playback can stop automatically in a time range from 5 minutes to 1 hour.

However, it is important to mention that the same function is also offered directly by iOS, in the native Clock application. Here, in the Minutes section, the user can set the playback to stop automatically after the countdown ends. In addition, the function works across the entire system, i.e. also for Apple Music. However, the Sleep Timer within Spotify offers perhaps a slightly simpler setting.

If you don't have the new function on your phone yet, it's nothing unusual. Spotify for a foreign magazine Engadget announced that it is expanding the function gradually and may therefore reach some devices later. In the meantime, check the App Store to see if you've downloaded the latest app update from December 2nd.
