Spotify is finally releasing its app for the Apple Watch. After years of waiting and just under two weeks of testing, the streaming service is also available for watchOS. The Apple Watch version comes as part of the new version 8.4.79, available for download from the App Store starting this afternoon.

The Swedish streaming service itself states in the update notes that this is the first version of the app for the Apple Watch. This indicates, among other things, that it will lack some functions that will only be added together with other updates. The beta version of the app that the company she tested since the week before last through TestFlight, for example, it lacked the ability to download songs for offline listening or optimization for the larger displays of the new Apple Watch Series 4.

For now, Spotify on the Apple Watch only works for remote control of playback on the iPhone. The application does not support streaming or the previously mentioned offline playback, so it always needs an iPhone for its functionality. However, in the future, the version for watchOS should undergo significant changes - bring all the desired functions and become independent in a way.

If you want to try Spotify on Apple Watch, then just download the latest update from the App Store. Subsequently, if you do not have automatic application installation activated, you need to install the service on the watch in the Watch application.
