There are probably few accessories for the iPhone that you can find as many different covers and cases that differ in shape, size and material. American company Burton/Speck produces a whole range of original packaging and one of them arrived at our editorial office. Advice Fabshell is characterized by a solid case (hardcase), which guarantees sufficient protection of the phone even when falling from a greater height, but above all by a pleasant fabric material on the surface of the case.
The packaging itself Speck Fabshell it is made of a material combining hard plastic and rubber, which makes the case strong, but at the same time partly flexible, so it is easier to remove the iPhone from the case. On the sides there are cut-outs for switching to silent mode on the left, on top for a 3,5 mm jack, and on the bottom there is a cut-out for the 30-pin dock connector, speaker and microphone. At the back, of course, there is a larger cut-out for the camera lens.
The volume and power off buttons are made of plastic on the sides of the case, but they have an uncomfortably stiff grip, and for example the power off button you can't even feel it being pressed, how stiff it is. The rest of the surface is covered with fabric material, so it is a synthetic material. Fabshell comes in a variety of designs, the piece we tested resembled an elegant plaid corduroy shirt.
The cover feels really sturdy, it has a fairly significant overhang over the edge of the display, and the combined material of plastic and rubber is able to dampen and absorb impact well, while the iPhone remains untouched. The only reservation I have is about the slight "gurgling" of the phone in the case, which you will feel when slightly shaken, which means that the inner sides are not completely touching the iPhone.
Thanks to its robustness, the Speck Fabshell significantly increases the overall dimensions of the phone by about 5 mm in all axes, the size of the package is exactly 65 x 121 x 13 mm, the weight of the package is about 26 grams. The edges of the Fabshell aren't as sharp as the iPhone itself without it, so it's a bit more comfortable to hold, but it takes some getting used to, especially given the greater width and thickness.
The case is intended for iPhone 4/4S, those interested will have to wait a little longer for the model for the latest iPhone 5. You can buy Speck Fabshell for around 500 CZK, for example in the e-shop Innocentstore.sk, who lent us the cover for the review.
I don't really need covers, but I would like one from Burton :) I only have a 5, waiting for accessories will get me to the grave one day :D also, Olloclip for iPhone 5 is already available :)
I'd rather have the entire iPhone scratched than such "elegant" covers..
...an elegant plaid corduroy shirt... that's perhaps an oxymoron:-D
It looks nice, it's just as stylish as an iPhone without a case ;-) I have a case for the iP 5 just because I don't want to have it covered with scratches, even though I try and at work it's not quite ideal without a case. I chose the 1mm cover from SwitchEasy and I am satisfied. Does it maintain the dimensions and appearance of the phone and that the case is scratched? What is the case from then ;-)
I like them too.. it's clear that it's for younger people, so the book is for those who go to school rather than work..
I have this exact one, just in a different color combination. I am completely satisfied with it, both visually and functionally. At least the iPhone doesn't get cold in the winter :)
