Do you enjoy getting up in the morning? Definitely not me. I've never had any major problems getting up, but the Sleep Cycle app has made getting up a lot easier and more pleasant.
It works on a very simple principle. You place the iPhone on the mattress of the bed (perhaps in a corner somewhere) and the application tracks your movements while you sleep (approximately the first 2 days of use, the application calibrates, so don't expect immediate results). Based on this, the application evaluates what stage of sleep you are in and wakes you up at the easiest for you to wake up, which in the end means that you feel rested and refreshed. Of course, this does not mean that Sleep Cycle will wake you up at two in the morning just because you were in a light sleep phase - you set the time frame in which you need to get up. It is done by setting one given time and the application tracks your movements half an hour before the given time. For example - if you want to get up from 6:30 to 7:00, you set exactly 7:00. If it happens that you would Sleep Cycle in a given interval did not catch in a light sleep, he wakes you up at that 7:00 a.m. no matter what happens.
The default tunes that are present in Sleep Cycle from the ground up must be commended. They are really pleasant and the selection is sufficient (8 melodies). What's also great is that the melodies gradually become louder (the maximum volume can be set) and after a while the iPhone starts to vibrate. I miss this a lot in the default alarm clock from Apple. I consider the inability to set your own melody, for example from an iPod, to be a minor drawback, but I have a feeling that I would still stick with the default ones.
The statistics, which are based on monitoring the entire course of sleep, from its beginning to its end, are also a great thing. The result is a pretty cool chart that you can email or share on Facebook.
It is definitely worth mentioning one important feature – the app uses a distance sensor, which is perfect. If you put the iPhone screen down, the screen turns off, which saves your battery. Even so, it is recommended to keep the iPhone in the charger (in connection with this, do not cover it with anything) and turn on the airplane mode at night.
There are more similar applications on the AppStore, but this one appealed to me because of its simplicity and, above all, its favorable price.

This app didn't work very well for me. Despite all efforts and correct placement, the resulting graph was like "no activity" all night. I attribute it to the hard polyurethane mattress, which probably doesn't transmit shocks as sensitively as, for example, a spring mattress... :(
Yes, it can't even work with a mattress that's too hard.
Well, the application has a location test mode, where it reacts to every movement with a "snarl", so it can be easily traced if it is usable or not and how much...
Hmm, that looks interesting, even if I'm just taking it for fun. However, it has one rather serious problem – if I drag the iPhone to bed, I can drag it anywhere the next day and not come back. :D
In addition, I do not sleep in bed alone, so the data on the quality of sleep would probably not be completely correct. But otherwise I'm attracted to it, for the price...

I bought it, tested it and it looks so good that it would even wake me up. The biggest downside is that even a fully charged iPhone will consume the entire battery overnight, and for some reason I don't have the opportunity to charge it by my bed. otherwise it is unusable for me :(

What if I'm not alone in bed? But sometimes a pet and a labrador every night :-) That probably doesn't count for anything, right?
Of course not.
As I wrote, I managed to trace the sensitivity and the application registers mostly only at a good distance…. i.e. the signals from the girlfriend can be more or less filtered out :-) this of course assumes "normal sleep" :))

Will you lose the entire battery even if you put the iPhone screen down?
Well, with the display down in airplane mode, it should last - but I solve it with a longer cable (a USB extension costs a few crowns and you can have a socket maybe 5 meters away).

Thanks for the tip, I was previously interested in a special alarm clock with a similar function, but at a crazy price. Anyway, the article is missing more information:
1. Does it really work? Do you notice that you wake up fresher than before?
2. How much battery does it eat?
Thanks for the answers.
I've been using it for about a month now, and I can say that I'm satisfied - waking up is more pleasant, at first you hear the alarm clock melody as if from far away, but gradually it gets closer and closer until you're awake :-) especially since I'm otherwise a pretty hard sleeper, and I'll just mention it the melodies are so 'mirumi-loving' that I wouldn't think it would wake me up :-)))
about the battery - I have my iPhone on the charger, so I can't say... have a nice day (and even better sleep ;-)
1. It works
2. I always leave it plugged into the charger overnight (USB extension cable), so I don't know exactly.
3. For about 20 crowns, I am really satisfied.
even if you have it in flight mode and the display is down, it will discharge overnight. I put it under my pillow, but it still didn't work...
Of course not.

I can confirm, I use the app and it's great. It's a bit of a problem if you share a bed in two :) But the application has a location test mode - and you can test the distance at which it registers movements and you can set it so that the signal from your girlfriend does not interfere with the application:)

For me, with a 3gs without a charger in airplane mode without wifi, the display only takes 20% of the battery. Otherwise it works as it should, waking up pleasant, graphs nice.
How does it calibrate after 2 days. So can I put the iPhone on the shelf above the bed or do I always have to sleep with it??
Calibration probably consists in determining the duration of individual phases for a given sleeper. Of course, you must have a device with an active application in bed when you sleep, even after calibration. Otherwise, it does not register your movements during sleep and cannot work.
Exactly.

After 2 hours, my 5G became so white that light spots were visible on the display.
I don't know what it counts, but snoring is quite numerically demanding :(
So I threw away 20 crowns :o(
I finally tried it yesterday too, I left the iPhone 2G on the charger under the sheet and it was normally cold in the morning, no problems.
I just have to pick up the location better, I would say that I rolled over more at night than the chart shows.
Exactly.

The first night my phone didn't wake me up at all.. the application mysteriously turned off.. the second night my phone completely died (even though it was on the charger and in airplane mode...) + it mysteriously turned on.. I'll give it a few more days and then I'll rate it.. I was looking forward to how it would help me with the built-in like you and then nothing.. :-/ shame

And the iPhone should be placed where exactly? At the head or just at the feet?

Now I tried it for two nights without a charger and it ate about 25% of my battery (9 hours of sleep), so that's cool.

I don't know how to buy this function at all :-( I don't have a credit card and I don't know how to pay for it. It's less than a euro, but I just don't know HOW :-( can someone please advise? :-(
In my opinion, this is a lot of nonsense. it can't work. maybe some device could estimate when a person is sleeping, but not an iPhone, for God's sake!!! know it's a phone and not a sleep monitor! :D
it works on the placebo effect principle. it's funny that someone can believe that and that you give money for it. :D
marek: the only problem is to set everything correctly, or place it. That's the only problem. Otherwise, it is a functional matter, however, there are special alarm clocks based on exactly the same principle, see e.g. http://www.alza.cz/axbo-d119582.htm
it sounds interesting, but I think it's not for mothers who get up at night with their children. or does it have the function of "fill the baby in the bottle" and "let him pee"??
