Your device can have a brilliant display, extreme performance, can take perfectly sharp photos and surf the Internet in a flash. It's all for naught if he simply runs out of juice. But when your iPhone starts to run low on battery, you can turn on Low Power Mode, which limits power consumption. If your battery drops to 20% charge level, you will see information about it on the device's display. At the same time, you have the option to directly activate Low Power Mode here. The same applies if the charge level drops to 10%. In certain situations, however, you can manually activate Low Power Mode as needed. You turn on the low power mode on the screen Settings -> Battery -> Low Power Mode.

You can tell at a glance that this mode is activated – the battery capacity indicator icon on the status bar changes color from green (red) to yellow. When iPhone is charged to 80% or more, Low Power Mode will automatically turn off.

You can also turn Low Power Mode on and off from the Control Center. Go to Settings –> Control Center –> Customize Controls and then add low power mode to Control Center.

What Low Battery Mode on iPhone will limit:

With low power mode on, iPhone lasts longer on a single charge, but some things may perform or update more slowly. Additionally, some features may not work until you turn off Low Power Mode or charge your iPhone to 80% or more. Low power mode therefore limits or affects the following functions:

  • Downloading emails
  • Background app updates
  • Automatic download
  • Some visual effects
  • Auto-lock (uses default setting of 30 seconds)
  • iCloud Photos (Temporarily Suspended)
  • 5G (except video streaming)

iOS 11.3 adds new features that display battery health and recommend when the battery needs to be replaced. We covered this topic more in the previous article.
