Apple has been paying attention to the quality of the built-in speakers in its products for a few years, which it started with the 16″ MacBook Pro in 2019. It was this model that took several steps forward in the field of sound. Taking into account the fact that it was still only a laptop, which generally does not have twice the quality of sound, Apple was more than surprised. Moreover, this trend continues to this day. For example, the redesigned 14″/16″ MacBook Pro (2021) or the 24″ iMac with M1 (2021) are not bad at all, on the contrary.

That Apple really pays attention to quality audio has now been confirmed by the arrival of the Studio Display monitor. It is equipped with three studio microphones and six speakers with Dolby Atmos surround sound. On the other hand, this development raises an interesting question. If the Cupertino giant really cares so much about sound quality, why doesn't it also sell external speakers that could be used, for example, with basic Macs or iPhones?

Speakers are missing from the apple menu

Of course, we can find the HomePod mini in the offer of the apple company, but it is not quite a speaker, but rather a smart assistant for the home. We can simply say that we probably wouldn't put it with a computer, for example, because we could encounter problems with response and the like. Specifically, we mean real speakers to the computer, which could be connected, for example, via a cable, and at the same time wirelessly. But Apple (unfortunately) does not offer anything like that.

Years ago, the situation was different. For example, in 2006 came the so-called iPod Hi-Fi, or external speaker, which served exclusively for iPad players, offering really high-quality and clear sound. On the other hand, Apple fans did not spare criticism of the price of $349. In today's terms, it would be 8 thousand crowns. If we look a few years further, specifically to 2001, we would come across other speakers - Apple Pro Speakers. It was a pair of speakers designed specifically for the Power Mac G4 Cube computer. This piece was considered the best audio system from Apple at the time, as it was powered by technology from the giant Harman Kardon.

Will we ever see it?

In conclusion, the question arises as to whether Apple will ever dive into the world of external speakers. This would definitely please a number of apple growers and bring them new possibilities, or, with an interesting design, an opportunity to "spice up" the work surface. But whether we will ever see it is still unclear. There are currently no speculations or leaks about Apple speakers. Rather, it seems that the Cupertino giant is focusing more on its HomePod mini, which could theoretically see a new generation relatively soon.
