There was a time when I was excited about the phone's ability to take pictures and then adjust the brightness and contrast. Today, semi-professional applications for correcting the colors and properties of a photo image are no longer enough, we need filters, we need textures. And it doesn't end there. It's coming Repix.

The concept on which Repix stands is not so original. Merging the process of photography with drawing/painting has proven to be rewarding before, so we can find other tools in the App Store. On the other hand, I have not yet come across anything that could so boldly compete with Repix's capabilities and user interface. I would even call it one of the best apps in its category. And be careful, it's not just about painting, but also about dealing with filters.

Individual tool sets are added to the application.

If I develop the text from my growing experience with Repix and its gradual updating, I will start with the basic use. I downloaded Repix for free because the video captivated me and I also wanted to try something new (and kind of revive the memories of the time when I used to draw). The developers have very appropriately made it possible to try out and explore all the tools within the application demo, which - for full use - need to be purchased. Just as the team behind the Paper program succeeded, so did Repix. I felt like working with everything. And as for finances, packages are always worth it if you really intend to use the application without restrictions. If you look at the App Store and the Top In-App Purchases section, you may be a little confused, but the full amount of 5 and a half euros for such an excellent application is not really high.

In addition to painting and other creative "inputs", Repix also enables basic (sufficient) image editing.

The procedure is easy. In the left panel, which can be hidden, you can choose to either take a photo or choose one from your albums, including photos uploaded to Facebook. The lower bar contains beautifully graphically rendered controls – individual types of tools, some of which imitate oil painting, others of drawing, scratching, some of which are used for blurring, partial deformation, addition of shine, light, or even such nonsense as glow and stars. A tool like posterize, "Delete", yolk or Edger especially lovers of poster graphics and printing will use it. The description (even with photos) certainly doesn't sound as good as when you look at it video lesson or - and above all - you can try out individual options directly.

Working with each of the tools allows you to be very delicate, because you can zoom in on photos multiple times and apply adjustments to tiny places by dragging your finger (or using a stylus). You will probably use some tools only on the background and surroundings (such as Scratches, Dust, Stains, Tags), while many Charcoal, Daubs, Van Gogh a hatching it will serve perfectly if you want the photo to have the touch of a drawing, a painting, something unusual.

It is true that after purchasing the package, I used Repix all the time, only to run it occasionally after a while. But it was also the fact that with Repix, if the result is to be really nice, it takes time. Roughly redrawing a photo with one or two tools won't create anything fancy, maybe only with a "poster set", but I really recommend making the brush strokes on the area of the photo as close as possible and gradually, as if you were really painting.

You activate the tools by tapping, the "pencil" moves up and a wheel with a plus symbol appears next to it. Tapping on it activates its second variant. (Sometimes it is a matter of changing the color of the painting or finer brush strokes.) Each step can be undone, or a certain part can be erased.

But Repix doesn't end there. You will find five buttons at the very bottom of the screen. Only the middle one concerns the events I just wrote about. To the left of the pencil is the possibility of settings - brightness, contrast, saturation, color temperature, etc. So Repix can be safely used to improve the quality of the photo. The image can also be placed in different frames, or the aspect ratio can be changed and it can be cropped in different ways. The same applies to frames with the wheel and plus function. When you tap on it afterwards, you have black instead of white.

And the filters deserve a last mention. Repix has recently updated you, especially working with them. It can replace the sixteen filters I have in the app Instagram, Camera analog and indeed all similar applications. Repix has a very appropriately chosen form of filters. Nothing too wild, everything so that the photos are something special, but not unwatchable. The last four allows more advanced settings, it concerns the light. Using your finger(s) determines the intensity and direction of the source light, all very simply and with fantastic results.

The menu and work with filters is surprisingly great.

Exporting and sharing the result of your efforts is a matter of course.

I was excited about Repix at the time, but the enthusiasm gradually increased because the developers are not sleeping and are improving not only the graphical interface, controls, but also the application's capabilities. In short, joy.
