Apple has started selling the 3rd generation iPhone SE. Some people are left cold by this fact, others are happy to be able to upgrade from their old device to the same, newer one, only slightly more powerful. It certainly cannot be said that the SE model is for everyone, but it simply has its fans.

Czech Wikipedia says that Déjà vu refers to a phenomenon in psychology when a person out of nowhere has an intense feeling of something they have experienced, seen or heard before. So here it cannot be said that it is completely out of the blue, because the iPhone SE 3rd generation was highly anticipated in the very design in which it came. While many wished Apple would reach for the iPhone XR, it didn't happen, and here we have the third recycling of the same design.

Of course, there were some news, such as new, although very similar colors, marketing 5G or the purposeful A15 Bionic chip, which will provide the device with several more years of software support. Bringing a 5 year old design with a few extra features is quite a bit daringly. Even before the arrival of the iPhone X, I made a strategy of buying Plus models, which were not only better equipped in terms of camera, but mainly provided a larger display. However, it stands to reason that inflating a "cheap" iPhone to "Plus" values would be pointless in this regard.

The iPhone SE is supposed to be the most affordable iPhone with modern features, at least for the year of its launch. And the iPhone SE 3rd generation simply fulfills that. It is the cheapest of the entire portfolio, it is as powerful as the current top-of-the-line series in the form of the 13 (mini) and 13 Pro (Max) models, and it also has the all-important 5G. However, whether I look at the device from all sides, whether I have it in my pocket or take pictures with it with just one hand compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max (in landscape), it is actually mile remembering.

The design is actually not that bad

The new iPhone SE is an amazingly small and light device by today's standards, and any manipulation with it is really easy. Sure, the size of the display has its limits, even after using it for a while I can't say I can imagine playing the latest games or watching longer videos on it (reviews will tell), but if you want a phone with a bitten apple logo, I can't think of a reason why after do not touch the SE model. So here I introduce the word "phone", i.e. a phone for which you do not have excessive demands and with which you want to be part of the Apple ecosystem without possibly spending unnecessary money.

It's still an iPhone with all its pros and cons, not just the device itself, but also its iOS. In addition, the desktop button is still more convenient for many less advanced smartphone users than the gestures associated with the bezel-less display and Face ID. But I can imagine its lower price. If Apple set it similarly to the basic iPad, i.e. at CZK 9, there wouldn't be much to complain about. However, the 990 CZK is a bit of a tolerable margin, because the iPhone 12 costs only 490 more, while offering a modern look, Face ID and an ultra-wide-angle camera. However, whether to invest in the SE or the already 11-year-old iPhone generation is up to you. Sample photos are compressed for the needs of the website. We are still preparing more detailed photographic tests.
