It's been a few minutes since we published an iPhone 12 Pro Max unboxing on our magazine. It is this model, together with the 12 mini, that officially goes on sale today. I had the opportunity to use the new iPhone 12 Pro Max for several tens of minutes, during which I formed a certain opinion about it. Of course, we will look at everything in detail together in a complete review, which we will publish in a few days. Before that, however, I would like to share with you the first impressions of the largest iPhone 12. It is not for nothing that they say that the first impression is always the most important - and not only in interpersonal relationships.

When Apple presented the new iPhone 12 at the October conference, most Apple fans breathed a sigh of relief - we really got the square design that you can currently find on the iPad Pro and Air, for example, and the iPhone 5 and 4 also had a similar design. After returning people have been clamoring for a square design for several years now, and given the completion of the three-year cycle after which Apple always invests heavily in the design of Apple phones, it was practically clear that we would indeed see some changes this year. Personally, I am no longer surprised by this design, as I am able to hold both the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro in my hand. But I still remember the great feeling when I held the new, angular iPhone 12 in my hand and said to myself "this is it". The angular body holds absolutely perfectly, and you definitely don't feel like the device should fall out of your hand when using it. Thanks to the edges, the device "bites" into your hand more, of course, but not so much that it should hurt you.

It should be noted that design was, is and always will be a subjective matter. So what may suit one user may not automatically suit another. It is also interesting with the size of the largest iPhone 12 Pro Max. Personally, I've owned an iPhone XS for two years now, and even then I started toying with the idea of going to the bigger "Max". In the end, it worked out, and in terms of size, I am satisfied with the classic version. This is probably the first time I've held a larger version of the iPhone since then, and I have to say that during the first few minutes of use, the 12 Pro Max is quite expectedly absolutely huge. Over time, however, I began to get used to the huge 6.7″ screen, and after a few tens of minutes in the final, I found out that the display size would most likely suit me. In this case, some of you will probably disagree with me, because for many users a 6.7″ display is already too much. Anyway, there's one thing that's deterring me from possibly buying the biggest of the biggest - it's multitasking.

When you buy the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which has a 6.7″ display, which is interestingly 11″ more than the 0.2 Pro Max, you expect to be able to be much more productive on such a large surface than on a smaller display. However, the opposite is true, as the iPhone 12 Pro Max, compared to smaller versions, can't do anything at all (in addition) in terms of multitasking. On such a large display, simply and simply, in my opinion, it should not be a problem to at least run two applications side by side. Of course, you can use Picture in Picture for videos, in any case, I can enjoy it perfectly even on the 5.8″ iPhone XS – so all multitasking possibilities end here. If I exaggerate in a way, a few years ago a 7″ device was considered a tablet, and let’s face it, the 12 Pro Max display size is close to 7″. Even so, it is still functionally the same device as the 12 Pro, so in the end I see no reason why I should exchange a certain form of compactness for a bigger brother. Some of you might argue that the iPhone 12 Pro Max has a better camera system - that's true, but the difference in the end won't be much at all.

As for the quality of the 6.7" OLED display, which bears the designation Super Retina XDR, we don't have much to talk about in the classical sense - iPhones have always had absolutely perfect displays compared to the competition, and the "twelves" only confirm that. The colors are colorful, the maximum level of brightness will surprise you, and in general you won't even mind that we didn't get a panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Everything is very smooth and I can confirm that the display is really the strong point of apple phones. It should be noted that I personally perceive the differences even though my iPhone XS has an OLED display. What about individuals who have, for example, an iPhone 11 or an older phone with an ordinary LCD display - they will be delighted. The only flaw in the beauty of this display is still the huge cutout for Face ID. This is where, in my opinion, Apple decently overslept, and we have nothing left but to hope that next year it will finally be reduced or completely removed. You won't have a problem with the 12 Pro Max in terms of performance either. All calculations are handled by the most modern and timeless A14 Bionic chip. It has no problem playing videos or browsing the web, even when running background processes, which run more than enough after the first start.

As I mentioned above, I personally am not surprised by the 12 Pro Max in any extreme way. In any case, the individual who will hold the "twelve" in his hand for the first time must prepare for a shock on all fronts. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is a phone intended for the most demanding users, although it is definitely a shame that there is practically no multitasking. We will take a closer look at the iPhone 12 Pro Max in a review that we will publish in a few days.
