Apple Music's streaming service continues to grow, and it certainly doesn't look like it's growing slowly. New information regarding the number of paying users was published at the SXSW festival by Eddy Cue, according to which Apple Music has subscribed two million more people than before. A few weeks ago, there was also information that Apple Music is dangerously close to Spotify in the American market, and by the end of the summer, Apple Music could become the number one music streaming service market.

But let's get back to Apple Music. Eddy Cue reported yesterday that Apple surpassed the 38 million paying customer mark at the end of February, adding two million users for the month. A large amount of credit for this increase is probably due to the factor of the Christmas holidays, when Apple products were given out in bulk. Even so, it is a very good number. In addition to the 38 million mentioned above, there are roughly 8 million users who are currently running some kind of trial.

The biggest competitor in this segment, Spotify, announced a month ago that it has 71 million paying customers. If we put together the user bases of both services, it is more than 100 million users. According to Eddy Cue, this number is impressive in itself, but there is still a lot of room for further growth. Which is logical given the total number of active iPhones and iPads in the world.

In addition to the numbers, Cue again mentioned that the number of subscribers is not the most important data about Apple Music. The whole platform is hugely important, especially for the artists it allows to be established and realized. Apple is just helping them get their art out to as many users as possible.
