Survey from Vuclip revealed that out of 20 people in the US, 000 percent of them plan to buy a tablet for Christmas. And many of them buy it for themselves, not as a gift.

The result may seem quite disproportionate. Just imagine 180 million people rushing to the nearest electronics store for a new tablet before Christmas. As exaggerated as it may seem, the projected growth of the tablet segment in the US in 2012 is more than 100% (ie about 36 million devices).

In the survey questions, people also answered questions such as "what tablet will they buy" and "who will they buy it for". More than a quarter of those surveyed choose a tablet based on the brand, while 19% of people consider a mobile connection, i.e. 3G/LTE, important. Another 12% will choose based on the operating system and 10% of people will choose a tablet based on its price. Other choices that people will make decisions on include: battery life, app availability, and screen size. What is interesting - 66 percent of men and 45 percent of women of all respondents will buy an iPad for themselves.

According to survey data, Apple is the clear winner among brands. More than 30% of respondents plan to buy an iPad. In second place is Samsung, which is likely to be chosen by 22% of respondents, and Kindle is also included in the survey, but only around 3% of respondents intend to buy it. This result is somewhat inconsistent with the current market share. The tablet segment in the US is now split as follows: 52% for Apple, 27% for Android tablets and 21% for Kindle.

A large number of people are therefore planning to buy a tablet for Christmas. And that means those numbers will skyrocket after the holidays, not just in the US, but around the world. In the third quarter of 2012, the growth of the tablet market was only 6,7%, which will undoubtedly surpass the fourth quarter.
