In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.
Apple Watch 7 could measure blood glucose levels
The Apple Watch has come a long way since it was first launched. In addition, the smartwatch is more likely to become a device that can save your life in many cases, which has also happened in certain cases. The Apple Watch can specifically measure your heart rate, alert you to fluctuations in your pulse, offer an ECG sensor, can identify a fall from a height and, since the last generation, also measures oxygen saturation in the blood. At first glance, it is clear that Apple is definitely not going to stop here, which is confirmed by a recently published podcast with Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Cook said that in apple laboratories they are working on amazing gadgets and sensors for Apple Watch, thanks to which we definitely have something to look forward to. In any case, specific news is now brought by ETNews. According to their sources, the Apple Watch Series 7 should be equipped with a special optical sensor that will be able to continuously monitor blood glucose levels in a non-invasive way. Blood sugar monitoring is extremely important for people suffering from diabetes, and this benefit could make their daily lives incredibly easier.
Apple should already have all the necessary patents available, while the product is now in the phase of honest testing to make the technology as reliable as possible. In addition, this is a novelty that has already been discussed in the past. Specifically, the Cupertino company employed a team of bioengineers and other specialists in 2017. They should have focused on the development of sensors for the aforementioned non-invasive blood glucose monitoring.
Surface Pro 7 is a better choice than MacBook Pro, says Microsoft
For many years, users have been divided into two camps - Apple supporters and Microsoft supporters. The truth is that both companies definitely have something to offer, with each product having its pros and cons compared to the competition. At the end of last week, Microsoft released a new, very interesting advertisement on its YouTube channel, in which the MacBook Pro competed against the Surface Pro 2 1-in-7 laptop.
The short ad pointed out a few differences. The first of them was a touch screen product from Microsoft and a stylus as part of the package, while on the other side there is a MacBook with a "tiny touch strip" or Touch Bar. Another mentioned advantage of the Surface Pro 7 is its detachable keyboard, which can make the device much easier to use and work with. Subsequently, everything was rounded off by a significantly lower price and the statement that this Surface is a significantly better device for games.
We'll stick with the gaming performance claims for a moment. It's no secret that Apple started a revolution in a way in November of last year, by switching from Intel processors to Apple's own Silicon solution, when it introduced three Apple computers equipped with the M1 chip. It can provide incredible performance in combination with low energy consumption, and in the benchmark test on the Geekbench portal, it earned 1735 points in the single-core test and 7686 points in the multi-core test. In comparison, the mentioned Surface Pro 7 with an Intel Core i5 processor and 4 GB of operating memory achieved 1210 and 4079 points.
Each device is used for something different. I appreciate the unbiased content of the author's article.
I think mine with my MacBook Air M1 and I am extremely satisfied.
Everything else is subjective. However, taking a shot at Apple in this particular field is very brave.
They should have compared the iPad Pro/Air with the Surface. The MacBook Pro is really somewhere else.
after years and years on windows, I've been happy for about a year now on LinuxMInt, Wírus10 and its clones and followers are no longer allowed on my computer or in my house
I bought a Mac mini with M1 and I am completely satisfied. I can play all the games that could not even be played on a 16-inch MBP just fine. For work reasons, I started testing Windows, installed tech. preview Parallels Desktop, installed ARM Windows and what I found is that it is even better and faster than on a classic Windows PC. So someone is doing something wrong here, but it's definitely not Apple :)
I will never understand this - when Apple released the M1 (and most likely will soon release more powerful variants for other machines) it pretty much messed up the rest of the market. And instead of MS trying to come up with a replacement, they point it out like "we have more powerful machines...but please don't look at the benchmark results". After all, it directly begs for a comparison in numbers, doesn't it?
It's quite a shame, ARM has been around for a long time, but MS hasn't been able to do anything in the style of Rosseta 2 for years so that undemanding users can switch to this platform (however, HW is definitely here). He definitely had better prospects for moving to ARM...and he totally wasted them. And now, instead of taking action and learning a little bit from it, they will trivialize it and turn a blind eye to it.
I'd say the winner will be the black guy.
I didn't want Windows. I don't need to read it. I have a MBP 13 2020 Intel version and I am completely satisfied.
