Although we all thought before Macworld that it would be full of new pieces of hardware, we ended up often being very disappointed surprised and disappointed. No iPhone Nano, no iMac and no Mac Mini either. The only hardware became the Macbook Pro 17″, which was included in the family called unibody.

Apple is now offering a Macbook Pro with a 17-inch screen with a resolution of 1920×1200 for pre-order. In the basic configuration, the processor is hidden in the unibody body Intel Core 2 Duo 2,66 Ghz (1086Mhz fronside bus, 6M L2 Cache), 4GB DDR3 SDRAM, 320GB hard disk with 5400rpm and SuperDrive. There are again two graphics chips for graphics operations – Nvidia 9400M and 9600M GT with 512MB memory. If this configuration is not enough for you, it is possible to choose Intel C2D 2,93Ghz, 8GB RAM and a large 256GB SSD disk.

According to the specifications, it will be viewed mainly by professionals from graphic studios, which is helped by matte display option, for which you will pay an additional $50. But since the price for such a configuration is quite favorable ($2799), it could also be a good choice for a family multimedia computer that we would use during the day in the field for work - for example, presenting projects to customers.

The Macbook Pro 17" weighs 2,99 kg, so it is not much heavier than its two numbers smaller brother. It is only 2,5 cm thick. Of course, Wi-Fi (with bluetooth), ethernet, mini display port, firewire, insight camera, 3 USB ports, express card slot, audio-in and audio-out are not missing. Like the entire unibody family, it also has a great glass trackpad, which I still can't praise enough.

A chapter in itself is the battery. First, the new unibody Macbook Pro 17″ will last on battery up to 8 hours when using the Nvidia 9400M and up to 7 hours when using the powerful 9600M GT. This is absolutely excellent compared to the previous 5 hours. But that's not the point. The life of this battery is more than three times longer than a normal laptop battery, it lasts up to 1000 charging cycles. But, of course, there is a downside - the user cannot replace the battery himself, it must be replaced at an Apple service center. But is it a minus at all? The durability of 8 hours must be enough, the durability is excellent and at least it will hold everything together nicely.

In short, the big Macbook Pro did well, the only disappointment is that we didn't see more news at Macworld. But I don't think it's necessary to mourn. New iMac and Mac Mini simply appears in a short time at some special event, I'm sure of it. And the iPhone Nano? We'll see. Apple is behind with its plans, maybe it's really not just wild speculation?!
