The new generation of MacBook Pros that Apple introduced in 2016 brought a lot of interesting innovations and a modified design, but it also suffers from several unpleasant ailments. Already several months after the start of sales, users began to complain about problems with the keyboard, and Apple finally had to declare free exchange program. Now another defect is starting to appear, this time related to the displays and their backlighting, when the so-called appears in the lower part of the panel. stage lighting effect.
On a problem that most will call nothing but Flexgate, pointed out server iFixit, according to which uneven backlighting of the display appears especially in MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and its occurrence has become more and more frequent recently. At the same time, the cause is completely trivial and consists of an insufficiently high-quality, thin and fragile flex cable that connects the display to the motherboard. According to available information, Apple started to save money on the aforementioned connectivity from the new generation of MacBooks, because even before 2016 it used higher quality and especially stronger cables.
The wear of the flex cable is the result of frequent opening and closing of the laptop lid - the cable breaks in certain places, which leads to unstable display backlighting. However, in most cases, the problem will only become apparent after the warranty expires, so the owner of the MacBook must pay for the repair out of his own pocket. And this is where the problem arises. The flex cable is soldered directly to the display, so when replacing it, the entire display must also be replaced. As a result, the price of the repair will rise to more than $600 (13 crowns), while replacing a separate cable would only cost $500 (6 crowns), according to iFixit.
Some customers have managed to negotiate a repair either at a discount or completely free of charge. Others were forced to pay the full amount. Apple has not yet commented on the problem and the question is whether it is going to start a replacement program just like in the case of non-functioning keyboards. One way or another, some disgruntled users have already started petition and they ask the company to offer a free exchange to their customers. The petition currently has 5 signatures out of a target of 500.

The petition currently has 5 signatures out of a total of 500? I'm somehow behind in math or logic. Where did you copy this from, would the original source of the article be please?
That's a lot of people :)
I haven't read in a long time that Apple has made something with which there are no problems. Why do people buy it when it's all made in China from junk?
If there was an article about "eple" that everything was fine, then no one would care=minimal traffic=minimal income.
precisely for this reason, I preferred to pay for a 4-year warranty rather than having a €2000 machine fail after two years
Something similar happened to me with an iPad for 12.9 (2017), but after a year, they exchanged it for a new one, now for a change it sometimes doesn't respond to touch and it clicks when there is slight pressure on the display. Of the seven Apple things I had, I didn't have to complain about only two.

Flexgate includes not only the described effect, but also the complete removal of the backlight. I paid 15,5k for it yesterday.
