After almost a year of waiting, we finally saw the introduction of the expected MacBook Pros, which have been talked about in apple circles for several months. On the occasion of the second autumn event Apple Event, we finally got it anyway. And as it seems, the Cupertino giant did not idle for a moment during development, thanks to which it was able to bring two great laptops with even better performance. But the problem may be in their price. The cheapest variant starts at almost 60, while the price can climb up to almost 181. So are the new MacBook Pros overpriced?

A load of news, led by performance

Before we return to the price itself, let's quickly summarize what news Apple actually brought this time. The first change is noticeable at the first glance at the device. Of course, we are talking about a design that has moved forward at a light pace. After all, this is closely related to the connectivity of the new MacBook Pros themselves. The Cupertino giant listened to the long-standing pleas of the apple growers themselves and bet on the return of some connectors. Along with three Thunderbolt 4 ports and a 3,5mm jack with Hi-Fi support, there is also HDMI and an SD card reader. At the same time, MagSafe technology has made a great comeback, this time the third generation, which takes care of the power supply and attaches comfortably to the connector using magnets.

The display of the device has also moved interestingly. Specifically, it is Liquid Retina XDR, which is based on Mini LED backlighting and thus moves several levels forward in terms of quality. Thus, its luminosity has noticeably increased to up to 1000 nits (it can go up to 1600 nits) and the contrast ratio to 1:000. Of course, there is also True Tone and a wide color gamut for a perfect display of HDR content. At the same time, the display relies on ProMotion technology and thus offers a refresh rate of up to 000Hz, which it can change adaptively.

The M1 Max chip, the most powerful chip from the Apple Silicon family to date:

However, the most fundamental change that apple growers were primarily looking forward to is significantly higher performance. This is provided by a pair of new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, which offer many times more than the previous M1. The MacBook Pro can now boast a 1-core CPU, 10-core GPU and 32 GB of unified memory in its top configuration (with M64 Max). This makes the new laptop undoubtedly one of the best professional laptops ever. We cover chips and performance in more detail in the article attached below. According to information from Notebookcheck even the M1 Max is more powerful than the Playstation 5 in terms of GPU.

Are the new MacBook Pros overpriced?

But let's now return to the original question, i.e. whether the new MacBook Pros are overpriced. At first glance, it may seem that they are. But it is necessary to look at this area from another direction. Even at first glance, it is clear that these are not products that are intended for everyone. The new "Pročka", on the other hand, is aimed directly at professionals who need first-class performance for their work, thanks to which they will not encounter even the slightest problem. Specifically, we are talking about developers working on complex projects, graphics, video editors, 3D modelers and others. It is these activities that require a lot of the aforementioned performance and cannot be worked with as well on weaker computers.

Apple MacBook Pro 14 and 16

The price of these novelties is undoubtedly high, no one can deny that. However, as we have already indicated in the paragraph above, it is necessary to take into account other factors as well. More demanding users will undoubtedly appreciate this device and can be expected to be extremely satisfied with it. However, how Macs will fare in practice is still unclear. However, Apple computers with the M1 chip have shown us before that Apple Silicon is not worth questioning.
