From time to time, an article appears in our magazine in which we deal with phone repairs together. Sometimes we discuss some new discovery or novelty that has appeared in the field of smartphone repair, other times we provide you with various tips and tricks that might come in handy when repairing. Since I have been personally repairing Apple smartphones for a long time, I decided to try to inspire you in this article with my own "setup" for repairing the device. So what does it look like and what should it include?

At the very beginning, I would like to focus on the tools and other accessories that I personally use for repairs. Some of these accessories are necessary, while others are not, in any case, they make the repair much easier. I see a quality set of tools as the absolute foundation - if you don't have one, you simply can't rush into the repair. If you're one of our readers, you certainly haven't missed it review of the perfect iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit, which is perfect for home repairs. Of course, you can get by with a cheaper and less comprehensive set, but you can also use the iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit for other electronics and not just for mobile phones, the quality of the design is also important.

Another accessory is a special pad that is intended directly for repairing mobile phones. For a really long time, I'm not afraid to say several years, I worked purely without a mat - because I thought it was not an absolute necessity. However, it often happened to me that a screw fell from the table to the ground due to poor handling, and in general, the organization of parts and materials was more complicated. When I decided to buy the pad and started using it, I wondered why I didn't start using it earlier. There are several types of these pads available, I personally went for the one that offers windows for screws, spare parts and tools. Among other things, my mat includes two magnetic fields to which selected screws or parts can be "glued". So I definitely recommend the device repair pad to everyone, and even though it is not a requirement, it can make the job easier.

In addition to the iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit and pads, simple and inexpensive products can make repairs significantly more enjoyable. Specifically, in this case I mean, for example, a flexible joint for holding the display. On one side, this joint is attached to a table or mat with suction cups, on the other side you attach the display, which you don't have to hold. Another great helper are narrow plastic cards, which can be used to cut the glue that holds the display or the battery. A small spatula is perfect for pulling out the battery that you couldn't pull out in the classic way. If you are gluing the display to the frame, small clamps may come in handy on some phones, which exert pressure on the display so that the gluing adheres perfectly. To soften the glue, you can then use a classic hair dryer, together with isopropyl alcohol, which can be applied using a syringe. You can buy all these little things at, among other places, Chinese markets, and IPA, for example, at a drugstore.

Newer iPhones that are waterproof have a seal glued between the display and the frame. This seal (glue) will be damaged when the display is replaced and it is necessary for you to stick a new one afterwards. There are ready-made glue sets for this, but if you don't have one, you must use at least a special glue. There are B-7000 and T-7000 adhesives for exactly these purposes - so definitely forget about silicone and similar substances. During the repair itself, it is necessary that you have enough space on the table, it is also necessary that you have order on it, or at least a system. With more demanding repairs, of course, it is often not possible to maintain order completely well, in any case, it is definitely not ideal to have all the tools scattered on the table and to look for them if necessary.

In conclusion, I would like to focus on the very aspects that can significantly influence the quality and speed of the repair itself. It is absolutely crucial that you have enough light in the room - ideally sunlight and not artificial light. Among other things, it is of course necessary that you study the repair in advance, if you do not have experience. You can use the portal for this iFixit or videos on YouTube. It is also important to consider whether you are ready for the repair - you should not start it if you are upset or if your hands are shaking. Also be careful of static electricity, which can damage the device or spare parts. You can learn more about the individual aspects in the article I am attaching below.
