If you looked at the calendar this morning, you probably didn't notice anything strange about today's date, May 6. But the truth is that today is World Password Day. Thanks to this day, for example, you can get various applications at a discount that take care of storing or managing all your passwords. On this occasion, we have prepared an instruction for you today, which is also related to passwords. Let's see how you can change a user account password on a Mac.

How to Change User Account Password on Mac

You may want to change your Mac password for a number of different reasons. For example, if you use the same passwords everywhere and you have decided to stop doing so, or perhaps because you found out that your password was leaked to the Internet. So the change procedure is as follows:

  • First, you need to tap on the Mac in the upper left corner icon .
  • Once you do so, select from the menu that appears System Preferences…
  • This will open a new window with all available sections for managing preferences.
  • Now find the section in this window Users and groups, which you tap.
  • Now select and tap on the left menu account, for which you want to change the password.
  • Then make sure you are in the tab at the top menu password – or go here.
  • Then press the button in the upper right corner Change Password…
  • A new window will appear in which you just need to enter old password, new password and any help.
  • Once you have entered all the fields, just press Change Password.

So, you can easily change the user account password on Mac using the above method. As for creating a password, there are several different "rules" that must be followed to create a secure password. In short, we can mention that you should not use the same passwords on different portals - once an attacker finds out one password, he gets access to many accounts. The password should then consist of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters, and the length of the password is also important - at least eight characters. Cracking such a password would take nearly 10 years today and using an average computer. To manage passwords, you can use, for example, Keychain on iCloud, which will take care of everything for you - in addition, you have passwords available on all your devices.
