As many of you must have noticed, Jablíčkář underwent a significant change on Sunday and was basically rebuilt from the ground up. We have been planning the new website for a long time, but it was only in autumn that the circumstances were such that things could be set in motion.
After a few months, the shape of Jablíčkára that you see today was created. We tried to preserve the structure that you are partly used to and partly to bring something new, fresh, and thus turn Jablíčkář into a full-fledged magazine. The website has a lot of new features and news that you may not notice at first glance, so we have prepared a small guide for you.
User section
Not every visitor to Jablíčkára is interested in everything we write. For example, phonists may not be interested in articles about the Mac, or vice versa Macara articles about the iPhone, if they use a different platform. In the main menu, we created individual user sections according to the user's focus. There are four sections: iPhone & iPad, Mac and OS X, Hardware a Tales. In the first two, all articles related to the given platform will appear, but some topics may appear in both sections, for example WWDC, where Apple presented both the new OS X and iOS.
In the Hardware section you will find everything related to apple iron and other devices and accessories. The same applies here as for the previous sections that topics can appear in more than one section. For example, the introduction of the new iMac can be found both in Mac and OS X and in Hardware. The last category is Stories, which includes all interviews, reflections, articles from the history of Apple or even memories of Steve Jobs. Articles from all sections can of course be found on the main page (Introduction), if you don't want to miss a single piece of news from the world of Apple.
Topic Lists and Application List
The main menu also includes subsections that appear when you move the mouse over the given tabs. In addition to the list of individual categories, you will also find Thematic lists here. A topic list can be, for example, Utilities for iOS/Mac, GTD applications or Memories of Jobs. All articles related to the given topic can be found clearly in these lists.
In the subsections, you will also find the List of iOS applications, where all the applications and games that we have reviewed will gradually appear. You can sort the list both alphabetically and by application category. If you're looking for references to an app you're considering downloading, or want to discover some new apps, the App List is the place for you.
Lightning bolts
A novelty at Jablíčkář are the so-called Bleskovky. Flashes are short messages, with which we will inform about current events and news on the Apple scene, without having to wait for a separate article. Lightning bolts are the Twitter equivalent integrated into the main article list.
You can recognize the lightning bolt by the smaller icon with a lightning bolt, in addition, unlike regular articles, you cannot click on it, as you will see the entire content of the message directly on the main page. Flashes can also include links or images that are displayed in a lightbox when clicked.
Fórum
As promised, we have brought a new clean forum. Unfortunately, due to the different format of the forum (phpBB3), we were unable to convert the posts from the old one, so it is necessary to start a new sheet. We have aligned the forum with the look of the new site, so we hope that the new clean forum will encourage you to have a lively discussion. We intend to devote much more time to the forum than in the past and will try to answer your questions that arise during the discussion, or we will engage in interesting discussions with you. The forum also supports the Tapatalk app, so you can easily browse it from your iPhone or iPad.
List of discounts
We have been providing information about discounts for a long time on Twitter, later we integrated the list of discounts into the sidebar. The new list of discounts is no longer just an aggregator of our Twitter, but a separate add-on where you can clearly find current discounts on both App Stores, Steam or elsewhere on the Internet.
You can easily tell which store it is by the icon, and after clicking on the price tag you will be taken directly to the store or the page where the discount is offered. For each discount, you will also see the date and time, which will tell you how long the discount is current. Currently, the list shows the last 7 discounts, a button to show more discounts will be added soon.
Counseling
You already know the advice center from the previous version of Jablíčkář, but the new one received a significant facelift. You can now find the form for sending a question in the scrolling menu at the top, below it is a list of instructions and advice that we have already brought to the apple shop.
Bazaar
A bazaar will also be part of the new Jablíčkár. It crashed our pages at the last minute, so we had to deactivate it and we will deploy it again after the repair. The bazaar will be the right place for those who want to sell their Apple devices or used accessories. The bazaar will have all the classic attributes, including the ability to insert images, filters by category or place of residence. We will inform you additionally about the deployment of the bazaar.
Your opinion
So we hope you like the new Appleman. The website is new, so of course there are bugs that need to be debugged and this will happen during the week. We will be happy if you tell us your impressions in the comments, suggest some improvement or report some bug you notice. You can also vote in our two polls:
It seems to me that everything is terribly angular, not Apple-like, which is a shame:-( I also think that the headings are hard to read thanks to the font used....
If you look at Apple fan pages, a lot of them have all these round corners, oval buttons and everything looks like a photocopier. Our goal was not to imitate apple.com, but to choose a distinctive magazine style. In fact, "round webs" are getting a little retro.
I think that the rounded corners are not Apple's thing, I probably wrote it wrong, but they are nice and above all more pleasant, I must have seen beautifully rounded corners on the iPad and it is beautiful to look at - feel....
It occurred to me that the rough hatching probably intensifies the angularity... Maybe it's a joke with feeling...
+ I see an empty shelf in the menu at the top right...
Otherwise, the website is great and it's probably the only Czech Apple website that I respect, thanks :-) I just would like it to be more user-friendly, as I like Apple stuff compared to Windows, HP, Dell, etc...
It's also hatched, now we looked at it again and under the main one it's unframed and that's probably what bothers me the most and it gives the angularity, next to the work, the shelves are also hatched and bordered by a line and they look good...
Otherwise, before the page is loaded, there is a nice wallpaper in the background, I like it a lot, it will probably be around the website on most monitors - great :-)
the font in the titles is meat! :)
I agree with the font... Very illegible but I'll have to get used to it :) otherwise beautiful
I wonder how it looks on the iphone….
Otherwise quite ok..:)
Well, I'll probably get used to the iPhone standard, as before, to the website :) change is necessary for every website once in a while..:)
I like it, and much more, the square corners are not so terrible and I like the font, every website should have its own style, apple has it and maybe Samsung is picking it up :D
I like the new look... but I have to say that the choice of the main font (headings, etc.) is not very happy, just because it doesn't have small letters(?)... Other than that, good job :-)
The capital letters are not harmful, they are easier to see :-) True, the iPhone will be an IPHONE, but we didn't even choose the font - it was part of the template and we liked it, and it also contains Czech characters, which is sometimes a rarity, so we kept it.
At the end of the article, you encourage criticism and notice of errors that readers have noticed. Thank you for it. A mistake I have noticed on the Jablíčkář website for a long time is the relatively low level of expression of a large part of your editors. The informational value of Jablíčkář suits me and I don't actually read any other Czech website about Apple. I also really like the new design, and I take the fact that it's not completely Apple-like as a positive. It can be seen that it must have cost a lot of money and time. But then it's sad when an article mentions it, which grammatically corresponds to the first grade of elementary school. Maybe the money for the new design should have come more for the salaries of the editors or for the employment of one editor.
Don't take me as a nitpicker, because this is not a matter of a few typos and errors due to carelessness, but of gross deficiencies in the knowledge of the Czech language. And given the number of your readers, I'm probably not the only one who feels this way. I trust you will take this as constructive criticism.
Thanks for the constructive criticism. Errors sometimes appear, articles are often written in a hurry, if it is a hot news item, and then many times there is no time for proofreading. It would definitely need a corrector, and hopefully it will be soon. Until then, anyway, we will try to check the articles more ourselves ;-)
I have to say that I like the website and I believe that it will be useful from a practical point of view. I would just match the already mentioned corners - they are sharp everywhere and in the discussion they are round. But that's just a detail. Thumbs up for the job done and I wish lots of readers. Otherwise, would it be a problem to generate the entire article into RSS? I know it's probably for the purpose of getting readers to the website, but since I don't see advertising anywhere, it shouldn't bother you :) .
Thank you Regarding RSS, if we put the whole article in the feed, the traffic statistics would be distorted, since RSS does not work properly with analytical tools. But, for example, the Reeder reader can use Readability to display an article as if it had been published in its entirety in the feed.
Yes, that's exactly why I use this reader :) . With a little effort, analytical tools can also be added to the feed, and then you also have an overview of how many people read via RSS. And above all, attendance is not the most important thing ;)
I like the new look of the website. I won't repeat what has been said here (font, etc.), but the clearness, intuitiveness, super "wallpaper" - I like it the most - it's a thrift store's reaction to linen and is basically exceptional. I don't read other websites about Apple, instead I visit websites about Android, but "I feel human here".
Thanks for your commitment, insights and a job well done. Mainly for the fact that you don't give up, even if you are sometimes harshly warned about mistakes and shortcomings. Sometimes I'd like to be there when you comment on these posts :)
So I give five stars...
The website is nice. I have only one complaint. When it comes to apple products, is there an alternative to show subcategories? There is no mouse on the iPad ;D
I like it, but the website would like some color, all the white and white (it's too austere, it needs to be highlighted), I saw that you have red and green in the logo, I would like to incorporate them more here. And one more really small mistake on the front page, how is the square with the pictures, sorry, I don't know what it's called :) when there is a picture of the apple week, it is a little shifted to the left, but otherwise good work, I hope you don't take this criticism as an insult :)
The white one has its meaning mainly because of readability. This is the current trend of websites – minimalism and cleanliness (similar to Apple, right :-) ) I think we have incorporated red quite a bit, I even received a comment that red is too much :-)
As for the image in the slider (that's what it's called), apple week, at least in Chrome or mobile Safari (iPad), does not move the slider in any way.
We certainly don't take it as an insult, we talked about criticism ourselves ;-)
Basically, like many above me, I don't read other "Apple news", nor do I need to, right? :)
The design change, for me personally, is definitely a step forward. Not that the original website was somehow bad, but in terms of clarity and overall comprehensiveness, definitely a thumbs up. I like the graphics, as well as the chosen color scheme - in this respect, I agree and disagree with what has already been written - the combination of white + shades of gray to black are elegant, effective, certainly modern for me, and tons of other colors do not deter me from reading longer texts. On the other hand, I would also like more red from your logo as a contrast - e.g. after entering the slider menu, changing the transition between the vertical buttons instead of the current soft gray tint.
But overall, a really big shift. Thanks! ;)
Oh, and I forgot about the wallpaper - it's really cool! ;)
I think that you are well on your way to definitely becoming the best magazine about Apple in our country. As for the criticism, you should seriously consider the capitals in the titles. Just because of the product names iMac, iPod, iPhone, iPad... IMAC looks really weird. At the same time, as I'm writing now, I notice a rather small font in the field for writing a comment, which is perhaps half the size of the resulting post in the discussion. Try increasing its size, it will improve readability.
One more thing occurred to me - the search has its title Search in the style of the page and right below it is basically the same thing = Search here - the title is basically useless, and there is such a gap between the two that it doesn't even look like it belongs together items. Just an idea…
The trend of strongly rounded elements on the page is slowly being pushed out by a more discreet, more "rectangular" design. However, it is no different in Lion. So like it ;)
The design is really good! I like it, only the first visit was a shock, I was scared that by some coincidence I found myself on superapple.cz, but otherwise I really like it and it's a good thing that the worn-out look is rubbish. This will last a while.
I quite like the new look though I agree
with some reservations that others have already written. What I don't like at all is that, as a Czech website, you don't have a mobile theme.
Thanks for the heads up, we've already cleaned it up
Did they travel? Partly yes, but it would probably like to finish the rest as well. Reply? On me? Website? Skip to responses?
0) New elements of vitam, you got it right! Stamps and rubrics great! Thanks! 1) Look for the shelf, you don't need to look for another heading (which is there like a fistful of eyes). 2) I find the capitals in the headings to be quite sensitive, I have to concentrate very much on what is actually written there in that compressed font - which I regret, because even when I am not using rss at the moment, I tend to skim what is on the new page and open it articles that interest me thematically in the title and the first sentence. From that font, the human eye automatically feels wavy, just like when you look at black and white stripes for a long time. 3) And what has already been said here is much more angular, which I do not consider a plus or a minus, it is just inconsistent with the format of the discussion - I personally like the slightly rounded corners.
I like the look, but I don't like it when this look is a product of the "Theme Sector" group and at best purchased from
http://themeforest.net/item/avenue-a-wordpress-magazine-theme/289114?WT.ac=category_item&WT.seg_1=category_item&WT.z_author=ThemeSector
so at the bottom of the foot you have "Design by Petr Sládeček" written when it's not true! The appearance is a complete Avenue theme!
Of course, yes, but the purchased template was completely adapted to the needs of the Apple user, a lot of other functions were programmed and all of this falls under the design of the page. Design is far from just graphics.
I don't understand why such a poorly legible font was chosen and it is written with caps lock. Apple's beauty is simplicity and, above all, readability. Well, sir, it's imperceptible to me, and that's the end of your website for me. The messages are mostly recycled so nothing happens for me at all. Maybe it would take more humility and compliance with the principles of polygraphy!
I have a question. In the article, you write that flash cameras cannot be clicked, but why do they work on mobile phones and are they commented on?
Unfortunately, the mobile version cannot be set this way, in any case, comments can be turned off.
well... I don't have a problem with that font (I'm probably the only one), I like the font and I don't have any problem reading it, so it seems legible to me :)
The design is not bad, it looks nice, but I liked the original much more – it was more Apple-like, i.e. simple and beautifully clear, user-friendly. This is my opinion about the current design - it looks confusing, there is nothing that one would read at first glance, because the font used in the headings does not allow it - it is not easy to read and clear. And that, in my opinion, is a mistake – the headline is always meant to attract attention, all the media know it and follow it, but it is not the case here.
What I consider to be the second big mistake is the non-functioning discussion forum via Tapatalk. It wasn't functional for a long time, maybe two weeks. Damage.
I forgot to add that this was only the first (well, maybe the second or third) look at the new site here, so I didn't fully penetrate the structure and all the options, which I probably would have appreciated otherwise. However, if the design discourages me, I will only use the mobile version on the iPhone and I will probably not solve any other structure on it, I am not used to it there. I like the mobile version, I really like it.
You write that you don't want to copy other apple websites, which are often nice, and instead you copy the following website:
http://theultralinx.com/ i don't understand at all :-(
