Jony Ive created a red Mac Pro for charity (23/10)

The new professional line of Mac Pro computers hasn't even gone on sale yet, but those interested can already look for an alternative model. Well, at least the mobile ones. The chief designer of Apple, Jony Ive, together with Marc Newson, designed a red version marked (RED). It will be sold at Sotheby's auction house and the proceeds will go to AIDS research. The auction house estimates the final price of this unique piece of electronics at 740-000 CZK.

The pair of designers also created a special version of the camera for the charity Leica M, aluminum work table or 14-carat gold EarPods.

Apple did not infringe WiLAN patents (October 23)

An independent court confirmed that Apple did not infringe patents held by WiLAN. Apple was one of a number of technology firms against which the Canadian company filed a criminal complaint. HTC, HP and others decided to settle out of court, only Apple stood its ground.

The reason for the failure of the court complaint was the fact that the iPhone manufacturer itself is not responsible for the alleged misuse of patents, but rather Qualcomm as a supplier of relevant components. But according to the defense, WiLAN attacked Apple instead, because it could expect a bigger check from it in the form of fees for every iPhone sold.

WiLAN's decision to fight the big tech companies cost WiLAN big money. She tried to cover them with another lawsuit, but this plan didn't quite work out and only pushed the company into the red.

VP of Mac hardware leaves for Tesla (24/10)

Tesla Motors has received a significant reinforcement to its team. His name is Doug Field, who has served as VP of hardware engineering for the Mac division for the past five years. Field joins Tesla as vice president of the vehicle program and will be responsible for the development of new electric vehicles of the Tesla brand. Douf Field doesn't come to transportation as a rookie, having worked for Segway for nine years before joining Apple, before that he was at Ford Motor Company.

I started my career with the goal of creating incredible cars, but eventually left the automotive industry in search of new engineering challenges. As the first company in modern history to produce high-tech cars, Tesla is an opportunity for me to follow my dream and build the best cars in the world," he said of his move from Apple to Tesla Field.

Will former Apple CEO John Sculley save Blackberry? (October 24)

Since 2007, the world of mobile phones has changed beyond recognition. Apple released its first iPhone and the technology companies of the time did not believe in its success. And they kind of fell asleep for a while. One of those who suffered the most is BlackBerry. It has been struggling with financial problems for several years and has not yet been able to recover from the rapid decline in interest in the brand.

According to The Globe and Mail server, former CEO of Apple John Sculley could also help her. He is notorious for his disagreements with Steve Jobs, but his actions are often emotionally exaggerated by Apple fans. As biographies and movies will tell you, Steve Jobs' departure is largely due to his own disconnection from reality. John Sculley didn't bring Apple to ruin, his successors did, who ousted him because of the wrong decision to favor the PowerPC platform over Intel.

In theory, Sculley might not be a bad director for BlackBerry. But can this company still be saved? Sculley himself believes in this: "Without experienced people and a strategic plan, it would be very challenging, but BlackBerry has a future."

Supplies of the iPad mini with Retina display will be very limited (24/10)

Many have been waiting a whole year for the iPad mini with Retina display. Even after his announcement, it looks like we'll have to wait a little longer. According to the server CNET supplies of the small iPads are very limited and are not expected to appear in "meaningful volume" before the first quarter of 2014.

The Telegraph he further informed that the stock is one-third compared to the introduction of the original iPad mini. As a result, the launch of new iPads will not show up so quickly even on the charts with sales numbers. Analysts expect only 2,2 million units of the new Mini to be sold in the fourth quarter of this year. Last year it was much more, the first generation of the smaller iPad sold 6,6 million.

The biggest problem is allegedly the production of Retina displays, which Apple's suppliers must first properly optimize and catch all the problems. Therefore, do not expect new iPads to be reasonably available from Czech resellers.
