Microsoft goes into battle with new Mac vs. PC (11/8)

Microsoft has already taken the path of comparison with the MacBook Air when launching the new Surface Pro 3. Now, a few weeks before the start of sales in 25 new countries, such as England and Australia, he released 30-second ads on the Internet, which highlight the possibility of pen control and the touch screen of the hybrid tablet over the MacBook Air. Microsoft continues its slogan "A tablet that can replace your laptop" and at the same time takes a swipe at Apple's slogan "You are stronger than you think" in one of the three ads.

The new iPad is supposed to have an anti-reflective display (12.)

Apple has probably already started production of new iPads. According to Bloomberg magazine, the "larger iPad", most likely the iPad Air, will have an anti-reflective coating that will make it easier for users to read. The description of such layers is similar to the anti-reflective laminated displays of the iPhone and iMac, which prevent glare. The competing Surface Pro also has such a display. According to Bloomberg, the iPad mini will also be updated, but the new anti-reflective layer is not certain.

Spock founders of Siri create Viv, a next-generation virtual assistant (12/8)

When Apple bought Siri in 2010, several of the staff behind its development started working for the Californian company. But after a few years, the vision for Siri's future changed, so founders Dag Kittlaus and Adam Cheyer left Apple and threw themselves into a new project. Together, they created Viv Labs, which aims to build an assistant that could change the way we use technology.

Viv should be extended even deeper beyond AI. She should be able to use multiple applications at once based on a question, and if she needs to, write new code on the spot to create a unique answer. Using an example, Viv Labs explained how Viv will work: "If we give her a command like, 'Find me a flight to Dallas with seats that will fit Shaq,' after Viv analyzes the question, she creates a quick program to connect the information from several apps such as Kayak, SeatGuru and the NBA guide to find seats on the plane with plenty of legroom. And he can do it all in a fraction of a second.”

Viv Labs hopes that their new assistant would not only be on phones, but also in televisions, cars and all devices connected to the Internet. “I'm incredibly proud of Siri and the impact she's had on the world,” says Cheyer. “But in many ways it could be so much better.” Viv is still in its infancy, but Kittlaus and Cheyer's vision is truly revolutionary.

The share of iOS in enterprises has fallen, but it still has the majority (13.)

In the second quarter of this year, the share of iOS devices fell by five percent to 67% of the market. On the other hand, Android improved by five percent and now has 32%. Far behind both systems is Windows Phone with a mere 1% share, on which Microsoft has been stagnant for over a year. Claiming that Apple dominates two-thirds of the market is inaccurate, however, as Good Technology's research does not include BlackBerry's data. iOS accounted for 51% percent of all operating system activations from smartphones and 16% from tablets.

Google and HP could create "Enterprise Siri". HP previously negotiated with Apple (13 August)

Most likely as a reaction to the conclusion of the agreement between Apple and IBM, Google is trying to figure out a way to get its Android system among companies. Google is said to have teamed up with Hewlett-Packard to create a so-called "Enterprise Siri" that could be used by corporate employees to look up various information related to the financial data and products of the company they work for. iPhone and iPad sales are expected to rise significantly thanks to up to 100 new applications that IBM is already developing for iOS, which will target employees of large companies. Android wants to respond to this agreement with its applications, and one of them should be their version of Siri. Employees could ask the voice assistant for information about the company, just as they ask the voice assistant about the weather at home. HP has been negotiating terms with Google for over a year, but before that it tried to present the idea of "Enterprise Siri" to Apple itself, but HP rejected it precisely because of the emerging agreement with IBM.

WSJ: Apple's smartwatch will have a sapphire display (14/8)

According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple's smartwatch will feature sapphire glass, just like the iPhone 6. The glass for both devices should be ready this month. This information would also fit Apple's investments in sapphire, which we wrote about a few weeks ago. However, the Wall Street Journal report is not completely clear regarding whether all iPhone 6 models will have sapphire glass available. Only users of the more expensive versions of the two new larger iPhones, i.e. most likely the version with larger storage, could enjoy a more durable display. Whether the information is true or not, Apple most likely decided on the presence of sapphire glass several months ago, as the new iPhone should be presented in a few days.
