In addition to the AirTag location tag, the flagship iPad Pro and the brand new iMac, we also saw the presentation of the new Apple TV 4K at Apple's conference yesterday. The truth is that in terms of appearance, the "box" itself with the guts of the Apple TV has not changed in any way, at first glance there was only a complete redesign of the controller, which was renamed from Apple TV Remote to Siri Remote. But a lot has changed in the guts of Apple TV itself - the apple company has equipped its TV box with the A12 Bionic chip, which comes from the iPhone XS.

At the presentation of the TV itself, we also witnessed the introduction of a brand new feature for Apple TV, which would make it possible to easily adjust the colors of the image, with the help of an iPhone with Face ID. You can start this calibration by bringing the newer iPhone closer to the Apple TV and then tapping the notification on the screen. Immediately after that, the calibration interface starts, in which the iPhone begins to measure the light and colors in the surroundings using the ambient light sensor. Thanks to this, the TV image will offer a perfect color interface that will be tailored to the room you are in.

Since Apple introduced this feature together with the new Apple TV 4K (2021), most of you are probably expecting it to be available exclusively on this latest model. However, the opposite is true. We have good news for all owners of older Apple TVs, both 4K and HD. The above-mentioned function is part of the new version of the tvOS operating system, specifically the one with the numerical designation 14.5, which we will see within the next week. So once Apple releases tvOS 14.5 to the public, all you have to do is download and install this update. Immediately after that, it will be possible to calibrate the colors using the iPhone in the Apple TV settings, specifically in the section for changing video and audio preferences.
