Apple rules the smartphone market with its iPhones being the best-selling phone models. But Samsung will sell more of them globally. However, cheaper devices help him to do this. But which of them sets more trends?

Even Apple likes to be inspired by the competition, although its transition from Lightning to USB-C was not exactly a step by which it would copy the Android competition, but rather a choice out of necessity. When he introduced the iPhone 14, satellite SOS communication came with them. Since then, it is certain that Android devices will also receive it, but it takes a long time for them.

Satellite communication

Google promised support in its Android, Qualcomm came up with a chip that will not have a problem with satellite communication, Samsung even tested two-way satellite communication on a specially modified phone. But nothing has reached smartphone owners yet. Not even satellite SOS is supported by the Galaxy S23, and it is not expected from the Galaxy S24, i.e. Samsung's top line, which is to be presented as early as next Wednesday. 1:0 for Apple.

Titan

It was known a long time in advance that the iPhone 15 Pro will have a titanium body - not exclusively, because the internal frame is still aluminum, but it doesn't really matter if it's not visible and it's actually better for use. Samsung has caught on. According to the previous leaks, he too is now preparing a titanium for his top model Galaxy S24 Ultra. 2:0 for Apple.

5x telephoto lens

Triple zoom was standard, for example the last Galaxy S23 Ultra introduced last February includes a 3x telephoto lens, to which it also adds a 10x telephoto lens. Apple hated it, and introduced a 15x telephoto lens with the iPhone 5 Pro Max. What about Samsung? Its upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra will say goodbye to the 10x telephoto lens, instead offering a 5x telephoto lens. Although it will have 50 MPx and it is quite possible that Samsung will always state with software loops that it can zoom in 10x, but some "digital" will affect it willy-nilly. Is it a coincidence? Certainly not, even here Samsung is inspired perhaps more than would be healthy. 3:0 for Apple.

Curved display

The models of the Galaxy S series with the nickname Ultra have had a curved display on their sides at Samsung for the past few years. It bothered me the most with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, where it was especially the case when using the S Pen stylus. In the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the curvature has been reduced, and in the Galaxy S24 Ultra it will disappear completely, because even the company no longer sees an advantage in it. Has Apple ever been inspired here? No, and when the manufacturer himself decided that it was bullshit, the verdict is clear. 4:0 for Apple.

S Pen

The Galaxy S21 Ultra did not yet have an integrated S Pen, although it did support it. The Galaxy S22 Ultra came with the integration of the S Pen directly into the body. The Galaxy S23 Ultra also offers it, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra will offer it. What about Apple? Stylus does not solve. Only Motorola took over this trend from Samsung, and with who knows what success, it is definitely impossible to say that it would be talked about in this regard. 5:0 for Apple.

Jigsaw puzzles

Samsung is already on its 5th generation of flexible phones, when this year it will introduce 6. How many does Apple have? Zero. He has not caught on to this trend (yet). But is it a trend? That's debatable, but let's say it is, so that Samsung has at least some point. He was the first, and that is appreciated, only then came all the Chinese production that rarely leaves the domestic market, Motorola and perhaps Google. So the final score is 5:1 for Apple. And we're not even talking about the software, for example when Samsung 1:1 beat the possibility of editing the locked screen, because Apple set a clear trend for personalization. All that being said, the answer to the question in the title of the article is probably obvious.
